DEAN CLOSE ORCHESTRA DAY
Orchestra students Gemma Allen (clarinet), Lily Edwards (violin), Toby Gaulton (clarinet), Harry
Mather (Trumpet) and Auguste Moreau (Cello) enjoyed an immersive experience this week when
they visited Dean Close School. They played along with other students in a full orchestra alongside
professional orchestral musicians, guided by the Carducci quartet. Students split in to their respective
sections of woodwind, brass or strings firstly to learn the parts for the pieces. Following 2 hours of
practise, the full orchestra came together to perform Dvoraks Slavonic dance Op. 46 no.8, followed
by Palladio by Karl Jenkins. The concentration, sight reading skills and resilience displayed by all
was so impressive, and the final performance was epic!! Will done to all, I was very proud indeed!
Miss Hughes

Words of thanks from Dean Close:
