This may seem like a jumbled mess of odd books, videos, and a website, but I promise
that they all do fit together! I started with the website article to get a large view of what I am
about to dive myself into more, so just in case I reference it I want to keep it in my
bibliography for now. My idea is to try to understand, better, what we are looking at in a
more poetic standpoint. If the Quran is really more poetry than a full-length story I would
like to make sure that everything we read is as close to its original meaning that we can get. I
am a musician who sings many songs in many languages, and I know that translating
something musical can be one of the hardest tasks to be asked of one person. I have also
decided to put another translation of the Quran into my sources because I would like to also
have a compare and contrast section in my paper to see just how far we can change an
original text into separate beings. One of the largest problems we have with understanding
other countries and religions is that of understanding translations. There are many words we
may not have in our language, we may have words that have the same name but different
definitions due to the simple fact that words change meaning depending on how they are
used. I have no doubt in my mind that I will not succeed in finding everything I want during
the time I have to write this paper, but I want to find out as much as I possibly can, and if I
still find it interesting maybe go on to find out more after the class is done.
