DINMICA DE SISTEMAS MECANICOS

Examen parcial # 1
Viernes 1 de Septiembre de 2017

INSTRUCCIONES GENERALES

EXERCISE 1. [0.75 PT]
The graph shows an airplanes acceleration during take-off. The plane takes 100ft to take off.
Calculate the take-off velocity (velocity at 100ft) considering that it starts from rest.

EXERCISE 2. [0.5 PT]

Perform the following conversions:

= 32

= 5

() = (2 2 )/ 2 ()

EXERCISE 3. [1 PT]
The 2 ball is released from rest in position 1 with the horizontal
cable. The length of the cable is = 1.
1. What is the velocity of the ball in position 2?
2. What is the tension of the cable when particle is in position
2?

EXERCISE 4. [1 PT]
The slider P can be moved radially by means of the string
S, while the slotted arm rotates about point O. The angular
2
position of the arm is given by = 0.8 20 where is in
radiants and t in seconds. The slider is at = 1.6 when
= 0 and thereafter is drawn inward (towards O) at the
constant rate of 0.2/. Determine the magnitude and
direction of the velocity and acceleration of the slider when
= 4. Express them in the polar coordinate system and
draw the acceleration vector in the figure to the right.

EXERCISE 5. [1 PT]
The two weights are release from rest. The coefficient of
kinetic friction between the horizontal surface and the 5lb
weight is = 0.2.
Write the (symbolic) kinematic relation between the
acceleration of the two particles: 10 = (5 )
Draw the free body diagram
EXERCISE 6. [0.75 PT]
The 1000 weigth is moved at the constant rate of
3/. Consider that coefficient of kinetic friction in
between the weight and the surface is = 0.2 Determine
the power input into the electrical linear motor M if
the combined mechanical and electrical efficiency of the
system is = 0.8.
If the provided voltage is 480V, what is the value of the
electrical current?

VARIABLE NAME VALUE UNIT

BONO. [0.25PT]
Extensive testing of an experimental 2000-lb
automobile reveals the aerodynamic drag force
and the total nonaerodynamic rolling-resistance force
(friction) to be as shown in the plot. Determine the
power required for steady speeds of 30/.
Express the power in hp.
