1 Upgrade Preparation
1.1 Application Scope

The software package is applicable for ZXMW SR10 S340V2.0upgrade/downgrade.
1.2 Tools Preparation

Required tools and software before upgrade:
Cross Ethernet cable, USB to Serial cable, PC.
FTP Server software (FileZilla Server)
Software package for upgrade/downgrade
Tip:
Firefox, IE 6.0 and higher version IE is supported.
1.3 Notes for upgrade

1. Confirm version serious No. of upgrade software package.
2. Acquire and backup complete MW Link config data of whole net, including
longitude and latitude, location and linkman, IP address, modulation mode,
capacity, bandwidth, frequency, Tx power, Rx level, alarm and etc.
3. Prepare emergency solution, check link status before upgrade, record necessary
KPI and alarm. If there is link with problem such as low Rx level, serious alarm and
etc., make timely report and judge if it is ready to be upgraded or not.
4. Validate field upgrade test within 72 Hours after upgrade.

2 Upgrade Procedure
2.1 Obtain S340 IP address

ZXMW SR10 S340 adopts built-in DHCP Server. In the first login, connect the equipment
using a USB to serial port cable and login equipment through LCT to get equipment IP
address.
2.1.1 Install USB Driver

1. Connect ZXMW SR10 S340 IDU and pc with the USB to Serial cable. RS232 port
is connected with Terminal port of IDU and USB port is connected with PC,
2. After connection, if the cable driver hasnt been installed on the PC computer,
select [Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced)] and window of Figure
Upgrade Procedure-1will be displayed.

3. The window of Figure Upgrade Procedure-2 will be displayed.

(1) Select [Search for the best driver in these locations].
(2) Select [Include this location in search].
(3) Click button <Browse>, choose directory of drivers.
(4) Click button <Next> to install the software as in Figure Upgrade Procedure-3.

4. After installation, the window of Figure Upgrade Procedure-4 will be displayed.

Click button <Finish> to finish.

2.1.2 Obtain IDU IP Address
1. Check the System Ports
i. Right click [My Computer] on the desktop, select [Manage] in the menu and
there displays the window as in Figure Upgrade Procedure-5.

ii. Select [Computer Management (Local)System ToolsDevice

ManagerPorts] to check for used ports. Please refer to Figure Upgrade
Procedure-6and the used port is <COM6>.

2. Select [StartAll ProgramsAccessoriesCommunicationsHyper Terminal] on

the desktop and there displays the window as in Figure Upgrade Procedure-7.

3. Enter <a> in [Name], click [OK], and there displays the window as in Figure
Upgrade Procedure-8.

Note:
Select the [Connect using] according to the actual status.
4. Select <COM6> for [Connect using] , and click <OK> and there displays the
window as in Figure Upgrade Procedure-9.

5. Configure COM6 port properties.
i. Select <115200> for [Bits per second].
ii. Select <8> for [Data bits].
iii. Select <None> for [Parity].
iv. Select <1> for [Stop bits].
v. Select <None> for [Flow control]
vi. Click button <Ok> and there displays the window as in Figure Upgrade
Procedure-10.

6. Enter the username <admin> behind [IP-10 login], press Enter and input <admin>
behind [Password].
7. Use <cd> command to access the directory of ip.
i. Enter <cd management/networking/ip-address> behind [IP-10:/>] and press

Enter.
ii. Enter < get ip-address > behind [IP-10:/ management/networking/ip-address>]

and press Enter to get the IP address of ZXMW SR10 S340 IDU.
iii. Enter <get subnet-mask> behind [IP-10:/ management/networking/ip-

address>] and press Enter to get the subnet mask. Refer to Figure Upgrade
Procedure-11, IDU IP address is 10.63.204.199 and the subnet mask is
255.255.255.0.

Tip:
After IP address is obtained, create new lock link in PC to make it in the same net with IDU.
2.2 FTP Server Setting

For upgrade of S340, FTP server need to be installed in the PC. So, the software
package can be downloaded from PC to the equipment. FileZilla Server is used to setup
FTP server, which version is 0.9.37.
1. Click FileZilla Server installation file , the window of Figure Upgrade

2. Clilck button I agree , and then the window as shown in Figure Upgrade
Procedure-13 pop-ups. Select Standard as the type of install.

3. Click button Next, and then the window of Figure Upgrade Procedure-14 pop-
ups to select Destination Folder.

4. Click button Next, and then the window shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-
15 pop-ups. In this window, choose how FileZilla Server should be started. The
choice is the default Install as service, started with Windows (default) .
the selection about port is also the default14147.

5. Click button Next, the windwo of Figure Upgrade Procedure-16 is displayede

to do settings on the start type of software interface. Choose Start if user logs on,

apply to all users (default) in Drop-down box. There is no need to select the
choice about whether start interface after installation.

6. Click button Next and The window as shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-17
is displayed. The installation process begins.

7. Click button Close , installation process completes. The window as shown in

Figure Upgrade Procedure-18 pop-ups. Do settings on the FTP Server. Here, any
modification isnt needed.

8. Click button ok , the FileZilla Server window as shown in Figure Upgrade

9. On the menu bar of FileZilla Server, click EidtUserssequentially, the window

of Figure Upgrade Procedure-20 pop-ups.

10. Click button Add in group box of Caption Users , the dialog shown in
Figure Upgrade Procedure-21 pop-ups to add new user. In this example, zteis
input.

11. Input User Name and Click button OK . In the window of Figure Upgrade
Procedure-22 , click the choice in the front of caption password , input the
password of the user. In this example, the password of User zte is zte.

12. Click Shared folders in left navigation tree, the page is displayed as shown in
Figure Upgrade Procedure-23.

13. Click button Add in group box of Shared folders, and then Browse for Folder
window pop-ups. Add FTP directory path to the Server, the page is shown in
Figure Upgrade Procedure-24. In this example, the path is set to be C:\update.

Note:
Tectory path in FTP Servehe dirr should be set to the final layer directory. In this example,
software files are stored in C:\update. So, the path should be C:\update.
14. Click button Confirm , the page shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-25 is
displayed. Click checked window of Read , Write , Delete under
CaptionFiles. Finally, click button OK, setting is completed.

Note:
Suggest set FTP share holders under root drive. Name the folder in English.
15. Set FTP Server and unzip upgrade package. Copy all files of unzipped package to
the shared folder address of FileZilla Server. The page is shown in Figure Upgrade
Procedure-26.

2.3 1+0 Software Upgrade

Be sure that software files has been copied to the path set in FTP Server. And
keep FTP Server running. In this example, IP address of PC is 192.168.1.100. the
path of upgrade files is c:\update.

1. Open the browser and input IP address of S340. The login page as shown in Figure
Upgrade Procedure-27 is displayed. Input User Name and password like that set in
the equipment. In this paper, User Name is admin and Password is admin.

2. Login the system, click ConfigurationGeneralVersionsIDU in the left

navigation tree to check the running version. The page is displayed as shown in
Figure Upgrade Procedure-28. There are four columns about versions, Running
Version, Installed Version, Upgrade Package and Downgrade Package.

3. After confirm software version, click Diagnostics & MaintanenceSoftware

Managementsequentially in the left navigation tree. The software management
interface is displayed as shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-29.

4. Click FTP Parameters in this page and the window of Figure Upgrade
Procedure-30 pop-ups. According to captions of input box, input relevant
information. click Apply and Refresh. In this example, input c:\update
in the first box , user name and password are zte because c:\update is set
to be the path in FTP Server.

Note:
According to settings of 2.2, ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is input in the first line because

of suggested setting on FTP Server.
5. After setting FTP parameters, click button Download under New Versions,
and then system downloads software from FTP server. The FTP software interface
displays of Figure Upgrade Procedure-31 to present connection success.

6. Download status column displays In progress in Software Management

page as shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-32.

7. During download process, click the file icon behind Download

statuscolumn. Click it and the view log as shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-
33 pop-ups. Specific situations could be displayed in this window.

8. Download completes and then the FTP Server is disconnected with the equipment.
The page is shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-34.

9. The Download status column displays Succeeded . Check mark

appears behind the file icon. The details are shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-
35.

10. After software download, click Upgrade and software upgrade begins. During
upgrade, Install statuscolumn displays In progress. The page is shown in
Figure Upgrade Procedure-36

11. Click file icon behind Install status column, situations of software
installation are displayed in Figure Upgrade Procedure-37.

12. If the installation succeeds, Install statuscolumn displays Succeeded. And

Check Mark is displayed behind the file icon. The details are shown in Figure

13. Software installation succeeds, and then the IDU resets. Login the equipment to
check software version. The version information is displayed as shown in Figure

2.4 1+1 Protection Software Upgrade

There are two ways to implement 1+1 protection. One is implemented by the cross
Ethernet cable. The other is implemented by the shelf. In this example, IP address of PC
is 192.168.1.100 . the path of upgrade files is c:\update . Keep FTP Server
running.
1. Login the system, click ConfigurationGeneralVersionsIDU in left

navigation tree to check protection information. The page is shown in
Figure Upgrade Procedure-40.

2. Click Open Mate , login the standby IDU. In left navigation tree,Click
ConfigurationGeneralProtection sequentially to check protection
information of the equipment. The page is shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-41.

3. Confirm the status of main and standby IDU. According to upgrade method
mentioned in section 2.3, upgrade software of main IDU.
4. Due to upgrade success of main IDU, the equipment resets. Standby IDU becomes
main IDU. According to upgrade method mentioned in section 2.3, upgrade
software of the IDU.
2.5 N+0 Software Upgrade

N+0 software upgrade is different with 1+1 and 1+0, which is managing software
upgrade of shelf by accessing Master IDU. Take 3+0 for the example and other types
could follow it.In this case, IP address of PC is 192.168.1.100. the path of upgrade
files is c:\update. Keep FTP Server running.
1. Login the equipment, the page is shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-42.

2. Click the bottom IDU, and click Diagnostics & MaintanenceSoftware

Management sequentially in left navigation tree. The software management
interface is displayed as shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-43.

3. Click FTP Parameters in this page and the window as shown in pop-up.
According to captions of input box, input relevant information. click Apply and

Refresh. In this example, input c:\update on the first line, user name and
password are zte because c:\update is the path in FTP Server.

4. click button Download under New Versions.Download statuscolumn

5. During download process, click the file icon behind Download

statuscolumn. Click it and the view log as shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-
46 pop-ups. Specific situations is displayed in this window.

6. The Download status column displays Succeeded . The Check mark

appears behind the file icon. The details are shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-

7. Click button Upgrade All , and then software upgrade begins. Install
statuscolumns of all slots display In progress . The page is shown in Figure

Note:
Aiming at N+0 Software Upgrade, Upgrade All is suggested.
8. Click file icon behind Install status column, situations of software

installation are displayed in the window as shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-49.

9. Software Upgrade of slot 2 completes. the IDU resets, and then Install
statuscolumn displays N/A. Software Upgrades of slot 1,3 are in progress.
The page is shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-50.

Note:

The sequence of N+0 Software Upgrade is from top to bottom. The sequence of which slot
equipment will complete upgrade in slot 2,3 is uncertain.
10. Software Upgrade of Slot 3 IDU completes, and then IDU resets. The page is
shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-51.
11. Software Upgrade of Slot 1 IDU completes, and then IDU resets. Software upgrade
of shelf succeeds. The details are shown in Figure Upgrade Procedure-52.

3 Downgrade & Rollback
3.1 Downgrade
Downgrade is opposite to upgrade. The running software version could be changed from
higher one to lower one by downgrade. There are upgrade and downgrade packages in
every published software package. For 6.6.2 software, upgrade package is used to
upgrade from lower version to 6.6.2 and downgrade package is used to downgrade from
higher version to 6.6.2.
For software 6.6.2, downgrade package is named as downgrade-aidu-6.6.2.0.0.22.
The operation of downgrade is the same with that of upgrade. The function region of
download and downgrade is in Old Version part as shown in Figure Downgrade &
Rollback-53.

3.2 Rollback
The software version can go back to the version before software by the rollback
operation. Rollback is not aimed at downgrade but the last upgrade operation.
For example, the running version of a S340 is 2.8.25. After twice upgrades, its versions
are 2.8.31 and 2.8.35. Through downgrade, the version is 2.8.32. the version isnt 2.8.31
but 2.8.35 by rollback. The details are displayed in Figure Downgrade & Rollback-54.
Due to this, rollback operations are aimed at last upgrade operation.

Take rollback of 1+0 equipments as an example. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Login the system of S340,

click ConfigurationGeneraVersionsIDU sequentially in left navigation
tree. The page is shown in Figure Downgrade & Rollback-55. There are four
columns about software versions, Running Version, Installed Version, Upgrade
Package, Downgrade Package.

2. Click button Rollback in software management page, and then rollback begins.
In progress is displayed in Install statuscolumn. All details are shown in
Figure Downgrade & Rollback-56.

3. Click the file icon . check the situation of rollback in View log as shown in
Figure Downgrade & Rollback-57.

4. If rollback is successful, Succeeded is displayed in Install status column

and a check mark is displayede behind the file icon. The page is shown in Figure
Downgrade & Rollback-58.

5. After the equipment resets,

clickConfigurationGeneraVersionsIDUsequentially in left navigation tree,
and check running version to verify wether rollbacak succeeds. The details are
displayed in Figure Downgrade & Rollback-59.

Software package for upgrade/downgrade

Firefox, IE 6.0 and higher version IE is supported.
