Week 3 General Meeting
Basics about VCH Health Site
Where?
Asian Garden Mall in Westminster, Orange County
When?
10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Sundays
How do I get there?
Transportation is provided from UCLA, but it is limited ~5-6
If you can provide your own ride, you are more than welcome to
attend
What do I wear?
VCH Polo ($20)
Pants, please!
Closed-toe shoes
What can you do?

Calculated using height,
weight, and age
Number is classified as:
underweight, normal
weight, overweight, and
obese
Vision Screenings
Ask the patient to read the
rows, covering one eye
The last row that they can
read with complete
accuracy identifies their
visual acuity
Hypertension Screening
Must be certified by the
American Heart
Association (AHA)
Hypertension training

Things to Remember
Be friendly! :)
Advise them to see a professional if you
think they are at risk
Cant give patients medical advice as a
volunteer
Example: You are hypertensive.
Instead use: Your results fall into the
hypertensive range, I advise you to
check with a medical professional.
Ask patients to sign all required fields on
the waivers!

How should I greet the patients in a respectful manner?
Age and Gender Greeting
20-30 year old female Cha o chi
20-30 year old male Cha o anh

Introduce and refer to yourself as con or chau
E.g. Cho bc! Hm nay con/chu s o ___ cho bc nh/nha/nghe!
Rule of thumb
If the patient is around your parents age, refer to them as c/chu
If the patient is around your grandparents age, refer to them as ba c

To greet the patient

To address the patient or get their attention
