JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Purpose of the position:
Job context
The Project Engineer is a key member of the Plant Projects group of Asset Management. This group is
responsible to successfully accomplish all Plant Capital and Social Investment projects, from design to
execution to commissioning, on schedule and within budget to Ambatovys technical standards. The Project
Engineer is responsible for delivering the approved projects to the client on time, under budget, and to the
clients satisfaction. At any time during the project he/she must be able to demonstrate that these goals will be
met.
Main Accountabilities

1.4 Co-ordinate with the engineering group to 1.4.1 Perform project risk assessment;
manage the detailed engineering of the 1.4.2 Review design basis;
project, follow and make sure of the 1.4.3 Define project scope;
following steps: 1.4.4 Define project plan and preliminary
schedule/cost estimation;
1.4.5 Issue and get validated the project charter /
project execution plan;
1.4.6 Follow (and manage if necessary) the project
detailed engineering;
1.4.7 Have the detailed design reviewed and
approved by all relevant parties / stakeholders
1.4.8 Ensure formal risks assessments are
conducted and implemented;
1.4.9 Have the engineering deliverables issued on
the required standards;
1.4.10 Issue detailed cost estimation and detailed
schedule;
1.4.11 Issue Scope of Work for all disciplines;
1.4.12 Lead and manage technical clarifications;
1.4.13 Lead and manage technical bid analysis;
1.4.14 Participate actively and lead if necessary
commercial bid analysis;
1.4.15 Lead and manage contractual negotiations;
1.4.16 Validate all disciplines contracts.
1.5 Manage, conduct and monitor 1.5.1 Follow-up procurement and take all
implementation of the project: necessary actions to have procured and
delivered in terms of approved time, cost,
schedule, quality and safety;
1.5.2 Follow-up fabrication and take all necessary
actions to have fabricated in terms approved
time, cost, schedule, quality and safety;
1.5.3 Follow-up construction and take all
necessary actions to construct in terms of
approved time, cost, schedule, quality and
safety;
1.5.4 Assess Mechanical Completion (6Qs)
1.6 Manage and coordinate with engineering 1.6.1 Manage Preliminary Pre Start-up Safety
and end-users commissioning: Review

10. Liaise closely with the Project Planners, Project
Coordinators and Project Controllers to ensure
that the project controls are up to date.
11. Liaise closely with Project Material Coordinator
to ensure good management and good
monitoring of all materials project status.
12. Participate in inter-disciplinary design reviews
for improvements projects.
13. Provide mentorship, guidance and coaching,
leading to the growth and development of
other National and expat junior Project
Engineers in the department
14. Establish then update assigned project
schedules on a weekly basis.
15. Write weekly and monthly progress reports
with the standard format.
16. Review monthly cost reports and forecasts, and
submit reports on time.
17. Conduct site surveys to monitor progress
18. Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) 18.8.1 Be aware, understand and comply with the
Ambatovy Health, Safety, Environment and
Quality (HSEQ) Policies and associated
documentation.
18.8.2 Ensure that the work is conducted in
compliance with Ambatovy HSEQ requirements.
18.8.3 Participate in the management of non-
conformances, incident and actions as required.
18.8.4 Participate in HSEQ audits and inspections as
required.
18.8.5 Support the implementation of agreed HSEQ
improvement initiatives.
18.8.6 Understand and participate in the
identification of the HSEQ risk pertinent to your
work area.
18.8.7 Actively participate at HSEQ meetings and
related initiatives.
18.8.8 Act as directed in an emergency/disaster
situation.
18.8.9 General environmental duty not to carry out
any activity that causes or is likely to cause
environmental harm.
18.8.10 General duty of care to self and others.
18.8.11 Lead safety programmes in the field to
