Domonique Morriseaus Blood at the Root follows six high school students at Cedar High School. The basis of the play is of the
Jena Six, in which six black students were arrested and charged for attempted murder after a school fight provoked by hanging
nooses on the tree. Within the play, Morriseau explores multi-complex layers of injustice that happens between the characters.
