Saint Patricks Day
1. Look, listen and read: Blip Blop: Why are you wearing green clothes?
Because today is 17th March and we
Christie:
celebrate Saint Patricks Day on Earth.
Blip Blop: What is Saint Patricks Day?
Jenny: It is a national holiday in Ireland and also a
very popular celebration in many places all
over the world. In Ireland people dont go to
work and in other countries people dress in
green and children eat lots of sweets. The
most common Saint Patricks Day symbol is
the shamrock. Saint Patrick is also one of the
patron saints of Ireland.
Blip Blop: I see! What about you, Tommy, why are you
dressed like this?
Tommy: Im wearing a leprechaun costume!
Leprechauns are very small and clever
creatures who live in the woods. People
cant see them because they run very fast
and hide. They are also symbols of this
celebration.
Christie: The leprechauns are very rich. They hide gold
under the trees. The legend says that if you see
a leprechaun and he tells you where the gold is,
then you become very rich.
Blip Blop: Wow! Its a very interesting legend!

Tommy: We have a traditional family meal and we
