TITLE:

BulSU-WAN (Workable Association with Nature): A Green Development of BulSU

Extension towards Comprehensive Social and Conducive Learning Environment

REASONS/ JUSTIFICATIONS IN CHOOSING THE TOPIC:

Bulacan State University (BulSU) is a pioneer institution of higher learning
established its vision and mission in providing advanced knowledge that is globally
accredited for excellent teaching, innovative researches, and responsive community
engagements. Bulacan State University started as an intermediate school in 1904, is now a
well-known and respected public university for its achievements. To date, it has
approximately forty thousand students and still increasing number of students. This indicates
that it earns trust and confidence among its patrons as it continues to pursue fineness by
providing quality university education to its students. It is committed to focus in addressing
communitys immediate needs in terms of social justice (BulSU as Center for Local
Governance) and sustainable development (BulSU as the Provincial Science and Technology
Center selected by the Department of Science and Technology) to attain equity between
various societies and establish a durable operation that will fill the gaps of information and
services in an innovative and responsive study, together with public engagement towards a
developed research and extensions of services. As an upgrade of the university, the
development of Bulacan State University Extension is projected through Planning and

However, the built environment of the Bulacan State University main campus located
in the City of Malolos, catering large number of students and still growing community, the
existing building facilities has increased its utility usage and has been insufficient, to cater the
present number of students resulting to shared and incorrect usage of spaces and difficult for
the users to comply and assist on such setting. Also, being left out in the development
progress in terms of the advancement on technological and sustainable innovations to
supportively advance and cultivate more educational opportunities and developments. Prior
to this, there is the challenge of providing learning environment that will affect students and
staffs in exerting excellent performances and effectiveness and also the challenge of avoiding
indecent usage of facilities. Moreover, Bulacan State Universitys wide variety of courses in
different college, it sets as challenge due to lack of unifying social connections, architectural
eccentric and environmentally responsive sustainability systems in each college buildings that
could progressively developed performance and learning. Besides, the lack of social relations
and accessibility among colleges that limits the university to be highly unified in soaring the
vision, mission and goals of the Bulacan State University.

The focus of the study is on assessing investigation of Bulacan State Universitys

present environmental condition to prevent and address the negative and adapt positive issues
towards a social and conducive learning environment through a green development of
Bulacan State Universitys Extension. Inhibiting a development concept that will carefully
considers social, learning and environmental impacts on the Master Development Plan of
BulSU, that stimulates relative issues on the perception, effectiveness and performance of
each users making, students, intensively educated, professors/educators and admins be highly
effective, in the most sustainable way. Wherein, a safe learning environment that provides an
area for users to manipulate, produce, intensify or reduce stimulation within a space while
relaxing, interacting and learning from one another, and also, stabilized an eco-consciously
teaching environment that uses different sustainable building systems to mitigate
environmental issues, utility costs and promote a unified green campus.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GROWTH OF KNOWLEDGE IN

ARCHITECTURE:
This study will be expected to generate a green development of a learning
environment, evaluated from the actual investigation and representation of an existing
learning atmosphere in response to its stimulating, physical and social effect on the users. It
will deal architecturally to signify physical, social, and environmental relativities in order to
generate and elaborate conceivable techniques and strategies to be applied on this specific

learning environment. The study aids in developing a design that will be environmental
responsive, to give value of nature and its ecosystem, be resource efficient, for conservation
of energy and the environment, and also be community and cultural sensitive, for the
salvation of unique cultural values. Engaged to sustainably support the users needs, satisfy
the perceptions and reduce negative effects on the environment, conforming to improve the
