What Happened

in the Story?
Sometimes kids have a difficult time expressing what happened in the story.
This worksheet helps students break apart the story by selecting the ma jor
events that has occurred within the literature piece.

Teachers can use this as a way for students to illustrate the ma jor events,
use sequencing to tell what happened first, next, and last. This helps students
formulate their summary. By the end of each worksheet, the student would have
completed a 3 sentence summary of the story with illustrations.

The worksheets in this set covers the Common Core State Standards for Literature
for grades K-3.
Kindergarten: RL K.1, RL K.2, RL K.3
First Grade: RL 1.1, RL 1.2, RL 1.3
Second Grade: RL 2.1, RL 2.2, RL 2.3
