Blues achieve milestone
Lautoka etched another piece of soccer his-
tory in 2017 by winning three titles in a year,
the first for the Association in 78-years.
President Abdul Kadar revealed this news af-
ter winning the Pillay Garments Champion ver-
sus Champion series, Vodafone Premier League
and Courts IDC.
He said the Blues team of this generation has
now gone into the history books for achieving
this huge feat.
Yes, we are now going into the history books
because in 78 years of Lautoka FAs existence
for the first time we have won three titles in a
year.
If we look at previous history the last time
we won the National League and IDC was in
1984, so after a lapse of 33 years we have come
back to repeat this.
The other time we won two-tournaments in
a row was in 1985 when we won both the IDC
and BOG. And we are the first team in the coun-
try to win the IDC three-years in a row (1957,
1958, and 1959).
When we look at the history of Fiji soccer,
we can proudly say that Lautoka is the team that
has created history by winning with maximum
goals in IDC tournaments.
A very hearty thanks to all the players for
their dedication and hard work for this great
success, Kadar stated.
He said they are now aiming for bigger suc-
cess in the upcoming Pacific Cup and most im-
portantly the Oceania Champions League.
He said they had set goals at the start of the
season and felt proud that they have managed
to achieve it.
We have proved our critics wrong and deliv-
ered the promise that we made to our Lautoka
FC fans. If our fans gave us the inspiration then
we can say that our critics made us work even
harder and the result is before us.

Nakauvadra applauds noble idea

Maika Kasami

Lautoka City Council Chief executive officer Jone Nakau-

vadra has thrown his support towards Lautoka Football Asso-
ciation in the sales of its 2018 calendar.
Nakauvadra launched the LFA calendar at the council cham-
bers on October 27.
The Sugar City head applauded the noble idea of selling
the Lautoka FA calendar to generate money for their Oceania
Champions League preparations.
I must thank the Lautoka soccer team for bringing fame and
glory to Lautoka City. I think our rugby union has not been
performing well so far but our soccer brothers are doing really
well. They won the CvC, the national league and the recent
IDC at home and now they will be going to prepare for the
O-League.
For the preparation of the O-League the team has come up
with a very noble idea of selling calendars and I would like to
take this time to urge all people of Lautoka to at-least buy a
calendar and support the Lautoka team. Its only $10 each, but
it is for a worthy cause. I know getting sponsors these days is
not easy even Lautoka rugby union team for the last two years
have not been successful in securing sponsors, said Nakau-
vadra, who is the rugby union president.
LFA president Abdul Kadar said the sales of the calendar
will make it easy for them to prepare a formidable team for the
regional meet.
Today is a proud moment for us the executives of LFA as
we embark on a new initiative of promoting the association by
ways of selling calendar.
Taking a team to the O-League is a costly exercise and
through the sales of the calendars it will lighten the burden on
our shoulders and will enable us to care for our players well
which is of paramount importance to us.
I would like to thank the Lautoka City Council, the CEO Lautoka City Council Chief Executive Officer Jone Nakauvadra with players and officials of Lautoka

Team work on and off the field paved way for Lautokas Courts IDC victory on home soil.
This was the message delivered by chief guest Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel during the
teams victory celebration night at the Sugar Cane Growers Hall on October 28.
He said the final was indeed a great one with the two top teams battling it out for top honours.
Patel mentioned the support shown by the Lautoka FA womens association comprising of
the wifes and mothers of the players and officials who he said also contributed to the teams
success.
Patel was accompanied by Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf, parent body vice-presidents
Tarunesh Reddy and Jitendra Kumar and the famous soccer commentator Raymond Stoddart
who were all guests for the night.
It was a grand final and congratulations to Lautoka for winning it on home soil.
Without a team effort success cannot be achieved. Football is played as a team and this was
visible in your Lautoka team.
And it was necessary for the team to get off the field support as well and this was done by
the womens fan club that showed a lot of it.
The effort of the players on the field plus the tremendous fans support, this is what got the
result at the end. This victory is for you to cherish till the next Courts IDC, Patel said.

two seasons.
Swamy joined the Sugar City side from Nadi and has since won

He said he will forever be thankful to LFA for coming to his aid

I want to thank Lautoka Football for giving me this opportunity.
I was the coach of Nadi before I came here, and when they dished

I also recall having a chat with senior players Peni Finau and Vale-
