A Detailed Lesson Plan for Grade-8 English

Direct and Indirect Speech

I. Objectives

At the end of the discussion, the students are expected to:


1. read and listen to a speech excerpt Role of Media in the

2. differentiate direct speech from indirect/ reported speech;
3. use direct and indirect speech in journalistic writing; and
4. change sentences from direct speech to indirect speech and
vice versa.

direct speech into indirect speech.

Direct speech: Present simple

Try to convert it class. Indirect speech: Past simple


She said it was cold.

speech.

newspapers are making fast money by
cashing on the news in wrong sense and
wrong way. In the race to become more
popular and to make money they have
broken all the limits media must follow
while serving to build a healthy and
progressive society. They have no respect
for the sentiments and ethics of the
people and land whom they serve to, with
their immense power to influence the
masses they just make judgment like a true

people have to think about the role of
media in our life.
