Expanding horizons, expanding minds
Winfield Arts & Humanities Council
Since its early years, founding art-
ists and supporters of the Winfield
Arts & Humanities Council strived
to provide creative avenues for local
civic organizations, to teach art tech-
niques to students and adults, and to
enrich Winfield citizens lives through
the arts. They did this with engag-
ing exhibits and festivals, concerts,
Artwork on Loan, and numerous
classes. Today the organization works
hard to offer current artists and art
enthusiasts opportunities to nurture
these passions.
WAHC successfully maintains an

annual state-wide writing contest
Kansas Voices. This contest, as well
as the annual music composition con-
test Kansas Soundscapes, continues
to encourage amateur talent by rec-
ognizing contest winners, publishing
and promoting their work, and offer-
ing valuable feedback and support
from judges and sponsors.
The Council is most known for its
dedication to creative learning classes,
especially the Summer Youth Classes.
Hundreds of students have the oppor-
tunity to study art techniques in
structured art classes, participate in
themed craft activities, practice the-
atre and acting through Southwestern thinking.
