PART LAUNCHING RULES

First Come First Served (FCFS): The parts will be fed in to the production system in the
order of their arrivals.
Shortest Processing Time (SPT): The parts will be fed into the production system in the
order of their processing times.
Earliest Due Date (EDD): The parts will be fed into production system in the order of their
due-dates.

Due-date for an order is computed by Total WorK (TWK) content method.

Due-date = arrival time + K* processing time of the order.

where K is the flow factor or due-date tightness factor.

In the experiments, K is set equal to 3, 5.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Makespan

Makespan is the completion time of the final operation of the last part.

Oij=The completion time of the final operation of the last part.

Mean Flow time

Mean flow time is the average time a part passes in the manufacturing system.

Flow time (Fi) = Ci - Ai,

Where Ci = Completion Time of part i,Ai= Incoming Time of parti

Mean flow time = Fin= No. of parts finished.

Mean machine utilization: Mean machine utilization is the average utilization of machines
in the system over the simulation period.

Mean machine utilization= (Working time/simulation time)

AGV utilization = (Working time/simulation time)
