INDUSTRIAL TOUR REPORT
The tour started from Jaipur at 8:00 pm via Ajmer-Chandigarh Garib Rath on 26th Sept
2017 and arrived in Chandigarh on 27th September 2017 at 7:00 AM.
Then the gathering went to Baddi, Hotel Orange Resort to freshen up. It was followed by
the industrial visit to HIM Technoforge and Mico Turner. In HIM Technoforge Then
they came back to the hotel for lunch which was followed by the Pinjore Garden and then
back again to hotel for dinner and then departed for Manali at 11pm.
On 28th September we check in the hotel named Manali Resort, and breakfast we went to
Rauthong Pass and Mall Road Visit.
On 29th September 2017, reached the camp site in Kullu district at 6am and all settled for
the camp for the breakfast which was followed by the river crossing and after that we
returned to our hotel for lunch.
On 30th September we went to river rafting after the surprise camp activities, then visited
Manikaran and Kausal Near Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.
On 1st October we reached to Chandigarh. There we visited Rock garden, Sukhena lake
and Sector 22 Market.
About Baddi
Baddi is home to multiple pharmaceutical companies who have established manufacturing plants
and R&D hubs in the town. The town is Asia's biggest Pharmaceuticals hub and is home to some
of the largest pharmaceutical companies such as Intas Biopharmaceuticals, Cipla, Cadila
Pharmaceuticals, Ajanta Pharma, Abbott Laboratories, Ranbaxy Laboratories, etc.

In addition to pharmaceutical companies, Baddi also houses a total of 2,120 factories belonging
to leading FMCG and textile companies among others and generates an annual turnover of Rs
60,000 crore. Baddi employs one-third of all persons engaged in Himachal's medium and large
industries. In terms of revenue, the town contributes half of the state's total revenues generated
from industries.
About Manali
Manali is a valley nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh near the
northern end of the Kullu Valley, at an altitude of 2,050 m (6,726 ft) in the Beas River Valley. It
is located in the Kullu district, about 270 km (168 mi) north of the state capital, Shimla, 309 km
(192 miles) northeast of Chandigarh and 544 km (338 miles) northeast of Delhi, the federal
capital. The small town, with a population of 8,096, is the beginning of an ancient trade
route to Ladakh and from there over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim
Basin. It is a popular tourist destination and serves as the gateway to Lahaul & Spiti district as
well as Leh.
About Kullu
Kullu or Kulu is the capital town of the Kullu district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It
is located on the banks of the Beas River in the Kullu Valley about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north
of the airport at Bhuntar.
About Chandigarh
Chandigarh is a city and a union territory in India that serves as the capital of both neighboring
states of Haryana and Punjab. The city is not part of either of the two states and is governed
directly by the Union Government, which administers all such territories in the country.
Chandigarh is bordered by the state of Punjab to the north, west and south, and to the state
of Haryana to the east. It is considered to be a part of the Chandigarh capital region or Greater
Chandigarh, which includes Chandigarh, and the city of Panchkula (in Haryana) and cities
of Kharar, Kurali, Mohali, Zirakpur (in Punjab). It is located 260 km (162 miles) north of New
Delhi, 229 km (143 miles) southeast of Amritsar and just 116 km (72 miles) southwest
of Shimla.

standard measurement for maintaining their quality. They have more than 20 machines to
make such spare parts and in a minute they produce more than 25 parts. In 1st department
it consists of 6 cells plus grinding cell, Cold forging, Ratchet cell, Ratchet and bush cell
etc. In 2nd department there is Bush cell and Driven cell. Other important cells are Cyl-
grinding cell, Shaft cell, sprocket pop and sleeve cell. Working of departments is
interdependent and every cell is connected to another so as to ensure that work would be
in flow and would be complete on time.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The visit generally consists of lectures about the company, the site being visited and a range of
topics specific to learning outcomes.
1. Recognize the process units Boiler, Pump, Condenser, Steam turbine, Generator,
Electrostatic precipitator, Pulveriser, Reclaimer. Generate the process flow diagram.
2. Identify input and output for the process.
3. Experience the importance of working safety.
4. Understand the concept of energy conversion & estimate overall thermal efficiency of
power plant.
5. Understand how does the product of the power plant is interfaced to the world.
