Last week, my friends and I joined a gotong-royong at the community hall in

our village. The villagers came to help.

A few men painted the wall of the community hall. Some women helped to
plant flowers.

My friends and I used rakes to gather all the dried leaves. Pak Ali put the
rubbish into a wheelbarrow and threw it into a big dustbin.

The villagers worked hard. At the end of the day, all of them felt delighted
because the community hall is now clean and beautiful.

Haris was walking to the library. He wanted to borrow some story books to read during
the weekends.

While walking, he saw a lot of thick smoke coming out from the science
laboratory. It was on fire.

Haris quickly ran to the school office and informed the incident to his
headmaster. He called the fire department.

A few minutes later, a fire engine arrived at the scene. The firemen managed
to put out the fire from spreading. The headmaster was grateful. He praised Haris for
his quick action.
