Sacrament of Baptism
...all people are children of God
and friends of Jesus Christ
that through the celebration of Sacraments,
we are having a special encounter with God
parents are the primary educators of their
children in the ways of faith
the faith practice and expression of faith of
the family impacts the development of faith of
the child
all Sacraments are celebrated in the midst of
the community of faith and are performed in
the Church
every child has a right to come to know God
who has created them
the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation,
Eucharist and Confirmation are opportunities
to be embraced by the love of God which is
beyond our understanding
Your babys baptism is a time
for celebration and joy.
Baptism is not only a sign and sacrament
that God gave us to show us His love, but is
an opportunity for us to realize that God
believes in us!
Through Water and Spirit, the child is
welcomed into the family of God and called
forth to be a witness of faith through living
their Baptism.
The faith of the parents is integral to the
faith of the child to be baptized.
Godparents are chosen from the Catholic
community to witness to the faith entrusted
to them for the child.
Christian Witnesses are Christians who live
the example of their baptism from a
Christian tradition other than the Catholic
Faith.

The three initiation sacraments: Baptism,
Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated

Reconciliation
To prepare children to celebrate
Reconciliation for the first time, we
teach children to see themselves in the
light of Gods love. This strengthens their
self-esteem and at the same time makes it
easier to accept their personal limitations
and shortcomings.

us the way to the true happiness God
wants for us.
encourage children to develop simple
habits that will sustain their spiritual life,
while strengthening their character.
gradually enable children to acquire a
more precise sense of right and wrong and
to make their own moral decisions.

Sacrament of Eucharist
(Holy Communion)
To invite children to the Table of the Lord in
the celebration of Eucharist for the first time,
we
introduce the celebration of Eucharist as a
way of prayer and Thanksgiving.
explore the meaning of Church as both the
building and the people of God
teach the Eucharistic mystery through the
joyous reception of the Body and Blood of
Jesus
explore the meaning of receiving the Bread
of Life as they are called to share Gods gifts
with their brothers and sisters and live the
Eucharist.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Our goals in preparing the student to receive
the Sacrament of Confirmation Include:
Affirming the gift of the Baptism as the
root call to living a Gospel life.
Celebrating the presence of the Holy Spirit
in their life.
Renewing their commitment to Jesus.
Understanding the call of the Holy Spirit to
affirm and confirm faith as a personal
response to Gods love.
Understanding and celebrating the Gifts of
the Holy Spirit and knowing how that is a call
to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Process for Registration and
Preparation for Sacraments
Infant Baptism
Parents wishing to have a child baptized
should come to register at the Parish Office.
Parents are required to attend a two
evening Baptism Preparation Session, which
is offered once a month.
Sacraments in Catholic Schools
Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation
Participants for these Sacraments will be
prepared at schools in religion classes.
Sacraments for Parish
Participants who are in the Public schools,
homeschool, or have missed celebrating the
Sacraments will be asked to participate in
our parish classes, which will start in
January.
In our diocese, children receive
Reconciliation in Grade 2, Eucharist in
Grade 3, and Confirmation in Grade 6.
