 Introduction
1 Phonics. That is because your children can learn to read without learning the names
of the letters, but they will never learn to read if they do not know the sounds of the letter
combinations.
Whatever order you do decide to teach Level 1 Alphabet Letters, your children will
need to recognize the capital and lowercase forms for each letter. You can call the capital
letters Big and lower case letters little. For example, you would say, This is A. Big A
and little a. In order to test whether or not your child can recognize both forms, you will
need to cover the capital letter and see if he can still recognize the lowercase letter. Your
child is ready to move on once he can identify all the letters without hesitation.
