Art could be interpreted as many different things. For example art could be literature,

songs, poems, music, and drama, etc. . Without art our world would be simple minded and

everyone would be bored because there is no such thing as art. In a perfect world there would

be no art. Why? Because art is build to see the imperfections in our society and everything and

everyone around us. Those imperfections are what help us improve us and art helps show that.

By art showing the imperfections in our society it helps us build and improve. Art is what makes

us humans and it completes most people.The arts are sometimes a key role in our society. Why

would it be key role in our society, well here why. Art is different for everyone and how they see

it. Art has many different values to everyone. Art has brought the world together to let different

cultures express themselves and show the world what they feel and how different they are from

everyone else around them. Sometimes it's hard to understand what art is because you don't

see what the artist sees. The artist painted what they're feeling now it's your turn in interpret

what it mean. Art leads to expression, expression lead to different feelings, feelings lead to you.

Technology. Technology these days can be referred to art because with a single smartphone or

any device you have you can do art with. When art is used in our daily lives we get used to

seeing things like it around us. Art can be used as a weapon in our society just like an actual

weapon can be used to harm someone.Not many people see the significant importance in art.

Why they feel like that, is because they can't see that art has positive outcomes and that art can
be used to teach students and help them think even more. Art is necessary for our society to

function or else we wouldn't be where we are now. Art is thinking creatively. When you think

creatively you tend to come up with ideas and start to question things. When the geniuses from

our past and those now and in the future have thought of things that could be used to improve

our society. With art all around us it shows the true beauty of our city.Art is in literature. It's in

literature because it seen as beauty and explains, many things to us rather than looking at a

painting and trying to figure out it's meaning. With literature it explains to you and the

explanation is just beautiful. As time passes in classes and students get very bored whats the

most common things that students do, they doodle in their notebooks. Even the smallest doodle

would be considered a type of art because even it's just a random drawings most people

consider that art .

What kind of world doesn't have color or art? A world that would be very boring and dull.

Art brings out the beauty in our society and people enjoy seeing those things. Our society

wouldnt be the same without art. It wouldnt be the same because people would act very

different because theyve never seen art and color and they dont know what the true meaning

of art is. Art to many people is very important because it holds a very special place in their

hearts. There has been enough data to show that art helps improve the learning for many

academic topics. It also reduce student dropout and raise student attendance. Art helps build up

team players. Art helps complete the development of human beings and beneficial to take

educational process. Without art it blocks our society's flaws. Art is important in our society

because if we never had art people in our society wouldnt be as captivated because it would be

black and white. Art is a form of communication because in history it shows that in egypt they

use hieroglyphics as their form a communication. Art has shown that it helps build people's self
esteem because they think positive things of themselves when they express themselves.

Throughout history it shows that people have been expressing themselves by painting, writing

poems, songs, dancing. A world full of color is what brings out the best in people and most

people are very cheerful because of it.

1.) Do you think that language is a form of art?

a.) Definitely, language is art. b.) No.

1a.) Then explain how language isnt a form of art. 1b.) How isnt language a form of art?

2.) Would you prefer to live in a colorful, vibrant world enhanced by art or, a stodgy colorless

world?

a.) Id prefer living in a colored world. b.) Id prefer living in a dull world.

2a.) So would you admit that art is necessary to make our world more appealing? 2b.) Why

do you prefer to live in a dull world?

3.) Do you or have you ever drawn a picture? And why do you do it?

a.) Yes I use that to express myself. b.) Yes but I only do it when I'm bored.

3a.) Art is recreational as well as therapeutic and studies show that art helps reduce dropout rates.

And art is also a great way for an individual to express themselves so in this case would you

agree art is a great way for one to express themselves?

3b.) So is art vital for entertainment?

the facade that covers the flaws of our society?

metaphors, analogies, and all the flowery and colorful language and details.

6a.) Well in this case art is a way of communication, whether it speaks about someone or

something. (Maybe) Quite frankly, our opposers do everything theyre against and are

hypocritical.

So art be it the cave drawings in southern France, or the calligraphy in Mesopotamia, or pottery

and the architecture of Ancient Egypt art is also a source of human development and leaves

behind a fingerprint of us.

9.) Do you play sports? If so why?

Well studies show that show that playing sports is good stress relief and also a good way to stay

in shape. Art isnt only essential to express yourself, or vital for communication. Art is a good

way to keep your body in top condition.

Final Rebuttal

As you stated that schools are getting rid of art classes, but what does that really show.

To me it shows that, our districts want us to be mediocre or less than what we could be or what

we want to be. And it shows me that the district wants us to focus on these STEM subjects and

not branching out. I did more research and the districts right now are eliminating art classes,

because they want us to focus on core subjects. This one piece of evidence just showed me

that the districts really are controlling us. Telling what to and what not to learn, what to focus on

and what not to focus on. They want us to be a certain way and not more different than we

already are. That same article they saw on the news that a district was deciding to get rid of

cursive writing. One thing I am sure we all learned, that we use everytime that we need to sign

something. How would these kids that go to school in this district feel when they are asked to

sign something and they cant. How humiliated would they be, how dumb do you think they

would feel that they are the only student in that class that doesnt know how to write in cursive.

How would you feel if you picked your child and they were made fun of that they cant write in

cursive. Also, as you said it creates a facade of the society, but the arts shows the good that

society has within its self. I will admit some art blocks their flaws, but doesnt that always

happen. For example, didnt Leonardo Da Vincis art block Italys flaws. You could say that the

arts are a waste of time, but didnt a lot of time go into the artwork that is now hanging in

museums and that is sometimes referred to in classes. Dont we occasionally refer or read

about these artists in certain classes. After this, debate we are going to be reading Romeo and
Juliet that to me is considered art. You said that art is not educational, but it is beneficial in the

educational process. And reduces student dropout rates, builds better team players. Also raises

student attendance, and increases knowledge. You said that you could not go into a profession

with art, but so many famous artists did this for so many years. Like Pablo Picasso, Vincent

Van Gogh, and so many others. You said that they burned books in Farenheit 451, but they

were all blinded by their tv walls to even pick up a book. They were so brainwashed that the

most religious person didnt want to pick up the bible. You talked about vandalism and how ugly

it is, but arent they expressing themselves like everyone else. Not everyone can afford the

canvases, paint brushes, paint, and everything else. They work with what they can buy, all they

are doing is trying to show how good they are like so many brilliant artists in the past. They are

communicating through their beautiful pieces of art. For so many their reasons against it is

defacement, but dont you some of this graffiti and think of how beautiful, awesome, or just

speechless at this art. Law enforcement and anyone else against it are trying to suppress the

youth expressionn through this could turn into something like the marches in the south from

police officers shooting young black men for no apparent reason. The possibility is increasing

everytime a young person is experessing him/herself is arrested or people just continue to

restrict them. This is their only communication to some. You said that artists dont get credit,

but Ray Bradbury got his credit, Picasso got his. The only people that didnt get credit were

those that didnt put their names on it, that died before they could claim it as theirs. You said

that art is not important, because schools got rid of it, but how could they not. When this school

has many, art classes that studdents are excited to be apart. All of these classes, I am sure on

the opposing side have at least one. That one could be your favorite class, the class that

helped you decide what you wanted to do in the future, the class that you are very interested in.

Do any of you on the opposing side listen to music, because to me thats art. Dont you listen to
music while we are working on something sometimes. Before we leave this podium right now

think of this all of you in the audience and on the opposing side havent you ever at least once

wrote, drew, danced, sang or just did something just to express how you feel. And think after

you finish, do you feel better that you expressed yourself like that or do feel like that just wasted

your time, and energy.
