Dear Mr. Lazarus,

Please know that I received your letter of October 5th, 2017, within which you requested that
MDOT construct a pedestrian fence along the west side of the Newport Road Bridge over M-14.

After review and consideration, I am pleased to inform you that MDOT has agreed to install the
requested fencing, and that MDOT is currently in the process of putting a contract together for
this work.

Unfortunately, I do not have a schedule for installation at this time. I am hopeful that it can be
completed this year, but there may be circumstances that push the installation to next spring.

Never the less, I hope this addresses your concern. If you have any additional questions, or
would like to discuss this further, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
