The Montgomery County Planning Board will review, for approval, several applications from private
telecommunications carriers requesting to locate their equipment on existing structures on Montgomery Parks
property to improve wireless telecommunications services in the area.
The applications propose to install equipment on already existing radio/cell towers, monopole and respective
ground equipment compounds in Blair Local Park, the Sligo Creek Golf Course and Wheaton Regional Park.
Park staff is recommending Planning Board approval for each application. Park staff has evaluated the three
applications for impact to the proposed parks, including environmental, aesthetics, disturbance, and park user
impacts. Since the three applicants will colocate on existing tower sites for the same use, the impact to the three
parks will be minimal. The Montgomery County Transmission Facilities Coordination Group (TFCG), which reviews
all telecommunications facilities and antenna siting requests, has approved the applications.
