CHAPTER I

PRELIMINARY

A. BACKGROUND

One of the most important tasks of a healthcare provider is to provide safe and accurate
medicine. Drugs are the main tool of therapy to treat clients who have client problems. Working
drugs produce a beneficial therapeutic effect. Although the drug benefits the client in many
ways, some medications may cause serious side effects or potentially harmful effects if not
properly administered.

A medic has responsibilities in understanding the work of the drug and its side effects,
giving the drug appropriately, monitoring the client's response, and helping the client to use it
properly and on the basis of knowledge. The drug delivery route is distinguished over several
routes, among others, parenterally, topical, inhalation and intraocular administration. The route
of drug administration is selected based on the drug content and the desired effect as well as the
client's physical and mental conditions

In health care, medicine is an important component because it is necessary in most health

efforts both to relieve symptoms / symptoms of a disease, drugs can also prevent disease and
even drugs can also cure the disease. But on the other hand the drug may cause undesirable
effects if its use is not appropriate. Therefore, the provision of correct, objective and complete
drug information will be very supportive in providing the best health services to the community
so as to increase the usefulness and safety of drug use (Anonymous, 2005).

COVER

A. CONCLUSION
medication is an important component because it is required in most health efforts both to

cure the disease. But on the other hand the drug may cause undesirable effects if its use is not
appropriate.

When treatment effects fail or are not optimal then we can evaluate some of the
following:

Accuracy of disease diagnosis

The type of drug selected should be appropriate for the attacking disease

Exactly the dose of the given drug

The route of drug administration should be in accordance with the type of drug
