1.2 LCT Communication Interface

1.2.1 Communications
The local craft terminal is a useful tool to the installation and maintenance.
iPASOLINK supply users GUI environment through WEB browser. Moreover, this
tool supports remote connection.

The LCT Port is located on the front of the equipment.

2.2 Software Requirements


OS: Windows XP (English version), Windows Vista (English version), Windows7
(English version)

Browser: IE8, IE7, Firefox3.6 or higher

2.3 OS Environment for Windows


Check if the following configurations have been done on you PC. If not, follow the
procedures to configure your PC.

Internet explorer is installed

TCP/IP Protocol settings are set appropriately

2.3.1 Internet Explorer


Confirm the Internet Explorer is installed on the LCT computer.

Select Start -> Program -> Internet Explorer

2.3.2 Confirming and Setting TCP/IP


The IP address of the LCT computer will be detected automatically from DHCP
server of NE side.

Setup the IP address to be detected automatically.

1. Log on the Windows OS as Administrator.

2. Select Start -> Settings -> Control Panel from the Start menu of the
Windows.

3. The Control Panel window appears. Double-click the Network


Connections icon in the Control Panel window.

4. The Network Connections window appears. Double-click the Local Area


Connection icon, then click Properties button.

5. The Local Area Connection Properties window appears. Select Internet


Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties button.

6. The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window appears. Confirm that


the following parameters are set:

The Obtain an IP address automatically radio button is selected.

The Obtain DSN server address automatically radio button is selected.

7. Click OK button of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window.

8. The Local Area Connection Properties window reappears. Click OK


button of the Local Area Connection Properties window.

9. The Network Connections window reappears. Close this window.

2.4 Recommended browser settings


Below are the recommended settings for the most popular browsers.

2.4.1 Internet Explorer 8


Tabbed browsing option is recommend.

10. Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Tabs Settings from the Tool
Bar menu of the Internet Explorer 8.

11. The Tabbed browsing setting Properties window appears. Select


Always open pop-ups in a new tab then click OK button.

3. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

3.1 General
iPASOLINK 200 is a basic configuration for nodal application in the wireless
iPASOLINK family and providing up to 440 Mbps with flexible combination of
native TDM and/or native Ethernet transmission and advanced adaptive modulation
scheme operating in 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 18, 23, 26, 28, 32 or 38 GHz bands.

The iPASOLINK 200 consists of antenna, outdoor unit (ODU) and indoor unit (IDU)
like as PASOLINK series and accedes to very high performance and ultra high
reliability gained through NECs rigid TQC activities and vast experience in wired
and wireless communication fields.

A single indoor unit (IDU) of iPASOLINK 200 can accommodate up to two (2)
independent transmission channels. This allows you to configure back-to-back 1+0,
same direction 1+1 twin path, hot standby, diversity.

The system consists of the MDP-400MB-1B Modulator-Demodulator (Indoor Unit
(IDU)) and TRP-( )G-1B/1D Transmitter-Receiver (Outdoor Unit (ODU)), Hybrid
Combiner/Divider and the antenna.

Note: The Combiner/Divider is used in (1+1) single antenna configuration for


antenna direct mount type ODUs.

3.3 System Overview


- ODU-IDU separate mount type. The connection line is only one coaxial cable.

- No protection or protection system is available using common ODU and IDU.

- Flexible configuration for ODU and antenna, direct mount / remote mount / 1+0
(non redundant) / 1+1 hot stand-by / 1+1 space diversity / 1+1 frequency diversity
(twin path), 2+0.

- ACCP, ACAP, CCDP and these combined configurations are available.

The iPASOLINK 200 has various interfaces specified by the ITU-T standard and
IEEE standard as listed below:

This port is used to connect with the NMS server through the network.

This is a port used to connect ODU with IDU with the coaxial cable.

This port is used for alarm outside connection, and for digital service channels and
external clock signal.

USB memory is useful to store the equipment setting and configuration data. This
information storage is used for equipment replacement and recovery of setting and
configuration.

The iPASOLINK 200 has optional card slots, AUX slot and power supply line inlet
and can add interfaces as listed below:

16 E1 can be added by adding optional E1 card.

This card has E1 and STM-1 converter function and has STM-1 optical interface.

- Interface: S-1.1/L-1.1 (ITU-T G.957)

3.4.5.3 STM-1 Electrical Interface (for Optional Card Slot)

This card is the same function as STM-1 optical function and has STM-1 electrical
interface.

- Signal rate: 1 or 2 x 155.52 Mbps

- Connector: IEC 169-29 (1.0/2.3)

3.4.6 AUX Card

This card supports cluster alarms and DI/DO (data-in/ data-out).

- Cluster alarm: Alarm extension and combining.

- DI: Remote input port for external alarms, etc.

- DO: Remote output from EMS controller.

- D-sub high density 44 ways female

3.4.7 Power Line Inlet (for Power Supply Slot)

Additional power line inlet can apply for operation of two independently power lines.

4. NE SETUP

4.1 Login/Logout/Exit

4.1.1 Login NE
Users are registered by means of login name and password. To protect the network
and network management system from unauthorized access or unauthorized
modifications, three levels (refer to the table shown in section 4.3.2 User Account
Management) of users are defined with different privileges. The functions available
in the window depend on the users access level. Therefore, some of the functions
may or may not be carried out.

The highest or administrator level (Admin) has full access to the network and
network management system.

Procedure 4-1

1. Power on the computer.

2. Log in the Windows as Administrator.

3. Select Start -> Programs -> Internet Explorer from start menu.

4. The Internet Explorer window appears. Input the IP address of the NE and
WebLCT in URL Address box as shown below.

Ex: http://172.17.254.253/weblct/

5. The WebLCT login window appears. Input user name and password in User
Name and Password textbox then press OK.

The following is the default user name and password for iPASOLINK 200:

4.1.3 Exit WebLCT


The following shows the methods to exit the WebLCT:

Select File (F) -> Close (X) from the Internet Explorer menu bar.

Click X button in the right top of the Internet Explorer window.

This section describes the contents and structure of the WebLCT main window.

(1) Login User Name

This part shows the current logged in user name.

(2) Refresh Button

Click Refresh button to update the current status of the WebLCT main
window.

(3) Equipment Status View

This part shows the current equipment status.

(4) Opposite Site Links

This part shows a list of NE on the opposite site, user can select the NE from the

pull down list to log in to the specified NE on the opposite site.

(5) Maintenance Button

Click Maintenance button before user performs any maintenance operation.

(6) Logout Button

Click Logout button to log out from NE.

(7) Alarm and Status View

Click the corresponding tab to switch among the different event log view.

(8) Menu Tree

This part shows the tree view of the relevant configuration and provisioning
menu of the equipment.

The available operations via the WebLCT are shown below.

(a) Current Status

Select this menu to show the equipment current status or history events for
each part of the NE (Active Alarm, Event Log, ODU, IDU, AUX).

(b) Easy Setup Wizard

Follow the Easy Setup Wizard to setup the basic configuration of the
equipment. The wizard includes ODU and IDU package registering,
removing function. This wizard provides a easier way to setup cross connect,
VLAN service and other necessary configuration for a new equipment.

(c) Equipment Setup

Select this menu to register or remove ODU and IDU package and other
relevant configuration.

(d) Provisioning

Select this menu to configure the detail settings of the IDU and ODU.

(e) Maintenance Control

Select this menu to operate Protection Switch, Loopback, H/W_F/W Reset,


etc.

(f) Maintenance Test

Select this menu to measure the link quality of Ethernet traffic.

(g) Current/History PMON/RMON Report

Select this menu to browse the report of Current, History, PMON and
RMON. User can also export the data to external storage (Local PC, USB

4.3 User Management (Security Managements)


User management is the function to manage the authorized user access to network
system and prevent unauthorized user from accessing to the network system.

z Access Level

There are three user access levels with different privilege in iPASOLINK as
shown in the following table. For details of available operations of each access
level, refer to Table 4-3 User Access Privilege Levels.

The user that assigned to the specified user group in iPASOLINK will be
assigned with pre-defined protocol and access level of the group.

Beside of the three default user groups, user can add up to six user groups
additionally. The default user groups are shown below.

There are three default user accounts in iPASOLINK with the pre-defined access
level and privileges. User can add up to nine user accounts additionally.

SNMPv1 is a communication protocol to monitor/control the network equipment


on IP network and specified by flowing RFC.

This protocol is for synchronizing the time between server and client connecting
in network and specified by the following RFC.

iPASOLINK uses NTP Client and Server to provide the following functions:

- As NTP Client

In case that the unicast mode is selected on NTP Client, client sends a request of
the current time to the pre-configured server and then sets the time according to
information in the reply. Up to four NTP severs can be registered via the
WebLCT.

In case that the multicast mode is selected on NTP Client, client will listen the
broadcast of the time server and then set the time according to the first received
valid broadcast and ignore the broadcasts from other servers if any.

NTP Client received neither reply nor broadcasts which cause synchronization
cannot be accomplished, and current time of the equipment will be used.

- As NTP Server

In case that the unicast mode is selected on NTP server, server will reply the
client with his time information.

In case the multicast mode is selected, server will broadcast his time information
periodically.

(4) FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

This protocol is for transferring the file among network equipments, and
specified by the following RFC.

iPASOLINK is used as FTP Server to provide the following functions:

- Data upload and download service

Provide the data upload and download service; however data download is
available only when user is assigned with the proper privilege (refer to 4.3.1
User Access Levels).

The files and the directories that can be accessed via FTP protocol are
predetermined as well as the file name and type which will be downloaded.

- Session management

Accept the connection from external device then conduct Login Authentication
process. Anonymous user is not available.

Using the default TCP port 21 for listening and transferring the file on TCP port
20, user can change the default setting by the WebLCT. When Passive Mode is
selected, the port number is decided by the equipment automatically.

If no command is detected on client within ninety seconds, current TCP session


will be broken automatically.

- User authentication function

iPASOLINK supports three types of the authentication, external RADIUS server


with internal authentication, external LDAP server with internal authentication
and internal authentication only.

(5) HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)

HTTP is the protocol for transferring data between Web server and client
(WebLCT).

implemented as a point-to-point Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC) which,
unlike Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL), does not allow for Service
Multiplexing, i.e., a dedicated UNI (physical interface) is used to accept all
service frames and map them to a single EVC (a.k.a. All-to-one bundling).
Due to a high degree of transparency, EPL is often used to provide
point-to-point Transparent LAN Service (TLS), where the Service Frames
header and payload are identical at both the source and destination UNI.
EPL is not fully transparent, as it must filter IEEE 802.3x Pause frames.
2. EVPL (Ethernet Virtual Private Line)
Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) is a data service defined by the Metro
Ethernet Forum, providing a point-to-point Ethernet connection between a
pair of User-Network Interfaces (UNIs).
EVPL service is specified using an E-Line service type, very similar to a
Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service, via a point-to-point Ethernet Virtual
Connection (EVC). However, unlike EPL, EVPL allows for Service
Multiplexing, i.e., multiple EVCs or Ethernet services per UNI.
The other difference between the EVPL and EPL is the degree of
transparency - while EPL is highly transparent, filtering only the Pause
frames, EVPL is required to either peer or drop most of the Layer 2 Control
Protocols.

EVCs without the need for three UNIs.
Because there are multiple EVCs per UNI in an EVPLAN service, the EVCs
must be visible to the customer. To do this, the service provider expects
customer traffic to have an appropriate 802.1p VLAN tag when submitted.
The network will also deliver tagged traffic to that location so that the
customer knows which EVC traffic is arriving from.

This function provide user the abilities that configure the attributes of the
Ethernet port on the front panel of iPASOLINK, including port name, line speed,

physically can communicate as they are located in a same broadcast domain and

iPASOLINK can learn the MAC address of the Ethernet frame dynamically and
save the port MAC address mapping information into FDBForwarding
DataBasebased on IEEE802.1d for each VLAN. User can also add the static
mapping information manually by this function.

z ETH OAM Setting

iPASOLINK support Ethernet OAM function based on ITU-T Y.1731 and


IEEE802.1ag, which enable operator to measure the Ethernet link quality such as
delay, throughput, jitter, loss and so on, greatly help network operator in
maintenance and troubleshooting.

z RSTP Setting

iPASOLINK supports RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) which prevent


from layer 2 level link loop with a faster manner compare to legacy STP
protocol.

User can set the priority of the bridge; specify the role of the Ethernet port and
other parameters.

z QoS/Classification Setting

iPASOLINK support QoS control function that provide different priority to


different applications, users, or data flow or to guarantee a certain level of
performance to a data flow. User can configure Class Classification, Ingress
Policer, Egress QoS and SP, TDM E1 QoS on MODEM to realize differential
service strategy.

z Other ETH Port Setting

This function provides additional setting of bridge such as Mirror port, layer 2
protocol transparency.

z Classify Setting tab

iPASOLINK supports QoS based on MEF10 and REC4115 which classify the
traffic into eight classes with the proper Internal Priority according to the
predetermined Policer. Except the default Policer, user can configure up to three
additional Policer which provide user the capability of realizing the
user-orientation QoS strategy flexibly. The Internal Priority is used for following
purpose:

1) Indentify Ingress traffic properly according to the predetermined Policer.

2) Mapping the eight classes of ingress traffic to four classes when queuing the
Egress traffic.

3) Copy the original internal priority to the capsulated frame to prevent the
traffic priority from changing unexpectedly. (VLAN c-tag CoS/VLAN s-tag
CoS)

Ingress

At the Ingress of the traffic, assign the internal priority and then perform flow
control according to the predetermined policer, coloring the frame with Yellow
or Green which decide the QoS queue at the egress, discarding the frames of the
traffic that exceed the designated bandwidth (EIR, Excess Information Rate).
