I will start my lesson by greeting the students with the hello how are you song and having dance and
sing along followed by asking them sit nicely, I will start the lesson by saying good morning students!
How are you today! And explain to them that we will be learning a new letter, then follow on with
drawing the letter p on the board and say Raise your hands if you know this letter. I will then
say this letter is the letter peei, all of you say peei and repeat it a few times till I feel like they
understood it. I will then ask them hmm what sound does the letter peei make when its with its
friends? Can anyone tell me? While saying so I will gesture to the hearing motion by cupping my
hands to my ear. I will explain to them that the sound of this letter is /p/. I will repeat it a few times
until Im sure they understood the difference between the letter and sound of a letter. I will then start
to show them the PowerPoint slides I made them and ask Can anyone tell me what is this? if they
answered Ill have the students clap for one another, if not Ill have them say p p pirate (or any of the
other words) a few times, and the same thing with the other pictures. Then Ill sing letter /p/ part of
the song skip to the Lou my darling. I will have a short discussion with the pictures on the powerpoint
Time: 15 min
that are
Whole

- pizza
- pirate
- parrot
- pink
I will then play the skip to my lou my darling song and have the students sing and follow along with
the motions of the dance with me doing them in the centre by the whiteboard for all the students to
see. I will then take the marker and ask Does anyone know how we write the letter p? then show
them how to write the letter, then I will have them try and draw it in the air with my directions. After
I feel that theyve grasped the concept, I will write apple on the board and ask the students to raise
their hands to circle out where the p is. I chose apple so that I can ask them to find the letter we
learned before which was /a/ and to see if they can recognize the letter /p/ in the middle of the word.
I will try a few more words and have students point out the letter and write it in the air again without
my guidance and then I will explain to them that by activities time they will be doing these fun
activities, and then I will model the activities.
Low: Students will colour the letter /p/ and colour their p p pizza.
Medium: Students will dip their finger in paint and dot along the /p/ and p p paint.
High: Students will practice writing their /p/ with coloured pencils.
I will go over a brief overview of the lesson and ask the students if they remember what letter they
15 min
took today, and what is the sound of that letter. I will then ask students to give me a few words with
the sound /p/ and have them draw it in the air. The students will answer and engage, and then I will
