Assignment 1
(a) Construct the IPR of a vertical well in an oil reservoir considers:
1. Transient flow at 1 month.
2. Steady state flow.
3. Pseudo steady state flow.

The following data are given:

K=8.2 md. , =19% ,h=53 ft , Pe=5651 psi , Pwf =50 psi , Bo=1.1 =1.7 cp , A=640 acre. ,
re=2980 ft , rw= 0.328 ft , S=0, Ct=1.29*10-5 psi-1
(b) Construct IPR of a vertical well in an unsaturated oil reservoir

Using generalized Vogel's equation. the following data are given:

Reservoir pressure, pe = 5500 psi
Bubble point pressure, pb = 3500 psi
Tested following bottom-hole pressure in well A, pwf1 = 4000 psi
Tested production rate from well A, q1 = 400 stb / day
Tested following bottom-hole pressure in well B, pwf1 = 2000 psi
Tested production rate from well B, q1 = 1000 stb/day

(c) An oil well in the middle of a large reservoir which is actively supported by water
drive, has been openhole tested and yields the following data:
Bo = 1.2
= 0.8 cp
rw = 3 inches
Thickness of interval tested h = 50 ft
Pwf = 3800 psig at q = 3000 STB/d

It is estimated that the reservoir has a drainage radius of at least 1000 ft. Pressure survey both
prior to and on build-up after the test indicate an original/static reservoir pressure of 4500 psig.
The well can be assumed to penetrate the reservoir vertically. Because of the water drive you
can assume that the reservoir performance can be modelled by a steady state flow model which
gives the following equation:

= 141.2 ln( ).(1)

Calculate the reservoir permeability and PI assuming no damage to the reservoir.

(d) For the well described in Question (c), calculate the relationship between Pwf and q.
What would be the pressure Pwf for flowrates of 1000, 2000, 4000 and 5000 STB/d?

(e) Assuming that a larger tubing (5 inch) diameter than that used for the well test can
be used, allowing a bottom hole pressure of 2500 psig to be obtained, what would
be the
flowrate?
