Quick change?
THE former Quick’s showroom in Lower
Bridge Street could become a small
Sainsbury’s store.
The old car showroom has lain empty for
many years but there is concern among
shopkeepers in Handbridge that the
potential arrival of the superstore chain
could hit trade over the bridge.
No plans have been submitted yet to

foot pain disappear
Jon White, from the Overleigh Roundabout, went for a foot assessment with podiatrist
Peter Colhoun, in Hough Green. Here is what happened in the following month

THE last time I wrote a column for the

magazine it was fair to say that I was in a
certain amount of pain.
The constant ache in my left ankle would turn to
pain after a long walk or a run. It was really getting
me down.
So I had no qualms about visiting podiatrist Peter
Colhoun in the hope that he could cure my ills.
As I explained last time, Peter was able to diag-
nose that my pain was emanating from my ‘flat
feet’ which was pulling on the achilles tendon and
the tibia (shin bone).
He took moulds of my feet and sent them off to

QUEEN’S PARK HIGH SCHOOL NEWS

Students take
a stomp
through
wonderland
Queen’s Park High School held
a celebration of the arts before
the summer break. The event
showcased the wide range of
talent at the school.
This included a performance
by Year 7 students of ‘A Stomp
through Wonderland’ which is a
fusion of the Alice in Wonderland story and music inspired by Stomp.
Each year Year 7students take part in a cross curricular project involving Art, Music and Drama.
‘A Stomp through Wonderland’ is the fifth of these projects. This year the project began with
students travelling to London to see the unique musical theatre performance known as ‘Stomp’.
This was followed by master classes in Art, Music and Drama that saw students design and make
headpieces and costumes, write scripts and compose music using everyday objects such as
tea cups and dust bins. Students and staff worked together in after school sessions as well as
weekends to complete the production.
‘A Stomp through Wonderland’ was performed for students from Overleigh St Marys CE Primary
School at a matinee performance and
for parents and guests at the schools
Arts Evening. Everyone who saw
it was impressed by the effort and
standard of work from the students.
Mrs Swann, Cross Curricular
Coordinator for Art said ‘This year’s
students have been a delight to work
with. Their energy, enthusiasm and
vibrancy has ensured the success
of this colourful production. I would
like to thank them for being such fun
to work with through their creativity,
dedication and hard work. I would like
to thank the other staff who have been
involved in this project for all their hard
work.”

travel company

New horizons for Karen and Gaynor

Gaynor Davies and Karen Cioma-Park and have proved it is possible to
succeed in an industry dominated by massive international companies.
after leaving Deva Travel last year they refused to sit on their laurels and
instead ploughed their redundancy into a new travel agency which is fully
aBTa & aToL bonded and part of the Co-operative Travel Group.
They are at the helm of a thriving new agency that boasts a number of
celebrities and professional footballers as clients.
They have moved into the Chester Enterprise Centre, on Hoole Bridge,
which has proved popular with customers due to its central location and
plentiful free parking and are pleased to offer home appointments for
clients with busy schedules.
“We both have a passion for travel,” says Karen, 33, “and decided to con-
tinue what we do best - and we haven’t looked back! Gaynor Davies and Karen Cioma-Park,
“We are approaching our first birthday and are delighted with the fantastic directors at Chester Travel Connection
support we have received from our clients and trade partners,” says Gaynor,
45, “we just wished we had done it sooner.
“Most of our business is recommendations,” says Karen. “We’re working longer hours than we ever did, but it is for our future.”
