Deer hunters heading out for the open-
ing day of the upcoming nine-day gun
season next weekend will be dreaming of
having the same kind of success 11-year-
old Trevor Shore had on the opening day
of the archery season.
Shore, a sixth grader at Medford Area
Middle School and the son of Chris and
Alise Shore, was hunting with his dad
when he took down a 13-point buck just
before darkness hit on Sept. 17. The
rack had a spread of 16.5 inches and the
deer weighed all of a couple hundred
pounds, according to Chris.
Trevor said the hunt was the luck
of the grandpas as he used a crossbow
willed to him by one grandfather to shoot
the buck on Taylor County land owned
by his other grandfather.
