The Nations Voice for People with Hearing Loss

November 8, 2017

Matthew Bakke, Ph.D.

Professor, Audiology Gallaudet University
800 Florida Avenue, N.E.
Washington, DC 20002

Dear Dr. Bakke,

It is with great pleasure that I write this recommendation letter for Larry Medwestky, Ph.D. in
support for him to receive tenure as a professor in the Department of hearing, Speech and
Language Sciences.

Dr. Medwetsky has served as a professional advisor in audiology to the Hearing Loss Association
of America (HLAA) for almost a year. Before he was appointed as an advisor, he has been a
valued expert writer for Hearing Loss Magazine, presenter at HLAA Conventions, and an HLAA
webinar presenter. He has a unique ability to speak to a lay audience of consumes with hearing
loss while presenting on some fairly difficult technical topics. He has always received positive
reviews from our staff and members alike.

We value Dr. Medwetsky as a professional advisor, not only for his thorough knowledge of
audiology and consumers with hearing loss, but for his willingness to be responsive to anything
we ask him to do. He continues to write for Hearing Loss Magazine and provides expert analysis
on the latest technology for people with hearing loss. In addition, he is a pleasure to work with,
always affable and diplomatic.

Best regards,

Barbara Kelley
