INTRODUCTION

Corporate affairs commission was established by the company and allied matters act

No1 1990 (CAMA) the commission is the only government agency responsible for the

registration of companies, business name and incorporated trustees (NGO). The establishment

of the corporate affairs commission as an autonomous body was as a result of the perceived

ineffectiveness of the company registry department within the federal ministry of Commerce

and tourism (which was known as Ministry of Commerce and industry) was then responsible

for the registration and distraction of the related companies act 0f 1968.

The mission of the Corporate Affairs Commission is to provide excellent service

delivery through the best technology, driving by motivation work force

The value of the value of the Corporate Affairs Commission is courtesy, integrity and

dedication. The head of the commission is situated at Abuja (FCT) the Commission also have

branch offices in some state of the Federation which offer the same service.

SERVICE OFFERED BY THE COMMISSION

1. Incorporation of companies (private or public company limited by shares).

2. Registration of incorporated trustee

3. Registration of business name

4. Searches of names

5. Processing the statutory filling of

i. Annual returns

ii. Alterations of memorandum and article of association

iii. Address etc.

FUNCTION OF THE COMMISSION

1. To established and maintain companys registry and office in all the state of the

federation suitable and adequate equipped to discharge its function under the act or

any how on respect of which it charge the responsibility.

2. To administer the act including the regulation and supervision of the formation in

corporate management and winding decree up of companies.

3. To perform such other functions as may be specified by any decree or enrichment.

STRUCTURE OF THE COMMISSION

1. The chairman who is appointed by the president of the federal republic of Nigeria.

2. A representative of the Legal profession

3. A representative of the accounting profession

4. A representative of the federal ministry of justice

5. A representative of Securities and Exchange Commission etc.

Department

The human resources department is headed by the deputy manager and has some sub unit

store. The human resource department is the nerve centre of the office which takes the

responsibility for all the activities that is involved in managing and organizing the affairs of

the commission (i.e. day to day activities of the commission). Some of the function

performed by the human resource department includes:

1. Maintenance of office building, equipment, filling, fitting machines and vehicles.

2. Keeping timely and effective records of all staff personal and confidential

3. Responsible for receiving consignment of goods and working materials for the

office used.

4. Responsible for the staff welfare, training and discipline of all staff.

5. To established and maintain open communication within the commission.
