I. Objetivo

A disciplina tem como objetivo analisar problemas e processos histricos considerados

cruciais para as relaes internacionais no mundo no sculo XX, sem ter pretenso de
apresentar um panorama amplo da histria das RIs no perodo. Ao contrrio, ser
priorizado um nmero limitado de casos e/ou objetos, em particular as razes por de trs
das Guerras Mundiais e da Guerra Fria. Esses temas sero precedidos por uma discusso
sobre conceitos-chave para a histria das RIs no sculo XX, entre os quais Nao e
Massas. A partir de um estudo aprofundado de um nmero seletivo de objetos, pretende-
se propiciar ao aluno no somente condies para adquirir uma perspectiva histrica
crtica do sculo XX, mas tambm ser capaz de desenvolver pesquisa histrica
independente e de qualidade.

II. Metodologia

O curso ser composto exclusivamente de seminrios dirigidos pelo professor, baseados

em leituras orientadas. Haver um texto obrigatrio para cada encontro, que ser discutido
coletivamente em sala. Alm disso, sero indicados textos complementares, cuja leitura
ser opcional.

III. Avaliao

A avaliao ser composta por quatro provas curtas em sala sobre os textos obrigatrios,
a serem realizadas em datas-surpresa, e uma prova final, que ocorrer no ltimo dia de
aula.
