activities, rallies, competitions and fundraisers designated by the coach.
* All squad members are required to attend all practices as called by the coach.
* Practices and games will always take precedence over jobs and personal plans.
Excused absences can only be obtained by notifying the coach personally. Excessive
absences from school and/or from cheerleading will lead to dismissal from the squad.

ABSENCES
If you are absent from school on a practice or game day and you have not made prior
arrangements with your coach, you must let COACH JOCHYM AND COACH SPANO
know as soon as possible.

You or your parent/guardian can do this by calling the school at (610) 932-6640 or
emailing at ejochym@oxfordasd.org or kspano@oxfordasd.org. The earlier you call, the
better we can prepare!

* Any cheerleader who misses any part of a school day due to illness may not cheer
that night, unless otherwise approved by the coach.

EXCUSED AND UNEXCUSED ABSENCES:

1. Each cheerleader can be granted ONE unexcused absence. After the second
unexcused (from a game, practice or scheduled event) absence, you will be dismissed
from the squad.
2. All absences must be excused. Excuses are left to the discretion of the coaches. An
excused absence is subject to verification. Always email coaches BUT this does not
mean that you are automatically excused!

Excused Absences:
1. Doctors note (after coach had already been notified of absence PRIOR to absence)
2. School Nurses note (left school early)
3. Not in school, due to illness (parents note or email to notify coach)

Unexcused Absences:
1. Not showing up
2. Self-written note
3. Missing more than a half hour of a practice, game or scheduled event.
4. Work
5. One week on ineligibility.
______________________________________________________________________________

INELIGIBILITY - GRADES
During a week of ineligibility, the cheerleader is still required to attend and
participate in all practices. If a game is scheduled for that week, the cheerleader
must attend the game in warm-ups and sit with the team during the game.
ONE WEEK of ineligibility counts as ONE unexcused absence.
If a cheerleader is ineligible for any two weeks of the season, she/he will be
dismissed from the squad.
Transportation/Districts/Fundraising/Dismissal
TRANSPORTATION

An athlete may ride home from an away game or other scheduled event with THEIR
parent or guardian ONLY. Arrangements must be approved by the coach PRIOR to
departing for the game. The proper paperwork must be completed, including necessary
signatures. In order to participate, cheerleaders must ride with the squad TO every
game.

DISTRICTS

Winter cheerleading comes with the understanding that the boys and/or girls
basketball teams will be making playoff games after the regular season. Cheerleaders
will be notified of the dates and times of the games as soon as the coaches know
(sometimes as little as 48 hours). These games may not be on the days of the regular
season (Tuesday/Thursdays). Missing a game will be counted as an unexcused
absence.

FUNDRAISING

It is expected that all members will participate fully in all fundraising activities to raise
money for the squad.

SUSPENSION

When a cheerleader is suspended from school for ANY given amount of time, during
the season, the suspension period will be counted as ONE UNEXCUSED ABSENCE.

DISMISSAL

Cheerleaders are role models and are representatives of their school. If a cheerleader
gets in any trouble involving drugs and/or alcohol (in or out of school), he/she will be
dismissed from the squad.

A squad member will be dismissed from the squad for continual failure to abide by the
rules in this constitution. In addition, any situation that may arise during the season
(whether it be stated in this constitution or not) may be deemed by coach(es) as
inappropriate for the squad and can be cause for dismissal from the squad. These
circumstances will be left up to the coachs discretion.

SCHOOL RULES

All school rules apply to sports as well. Students-athletes are to follow all expectations
as stated in the OAHS Student Handbook during ALL practices, games and other
scheduled events. Additionally, breaking any of those rules will result in disciplinary
action given by the principal(s) of the school.
