Have served as HSLS Chair since January 3, 2016
My goal has been to craft an inclusive atmosphere, meeting with faculty, clinical educators,
administrative staff and students with a # of goals, some of which include:
Develop a positive working/learning atmosphere
Assist efforts to develop a vision and mission that will guide the department going forward
Related to the above, ascertain mechanisms to addressing the requirements of accrediting and
other organizational standard
Enhance the effectiveness/efficiency of departmental efforts
Foster increasing awareness among and collaborations with other departments at Gallaudet
University

Serving as Interim Clinic Director May 2017- and previously (May September
2014)
In this role, goals of mine have included:
Work toward a more seamless collaboration between the academic and clinic
faculty so that the foundational aspects taught in courses are linked with what
students were learning in the clinic
Review and revise as necessary to ensure cutting-edge clinical protocols
Work with both the speech and audiology programs to establish tactical
objectives to drive marketing initiatives to increase community awareness of the
Gallaudet University Hearing and Speech Center, including: revising clinic
website, developing a physician marketing program, new informational materials

Coordinator of AuD Candidacy Examinations (2014-2016)
This involved both oral and written exam administrations. Tasks included:
Systematic review of the candidacy questions, revisions as needed, and
solicitation of questions from faculty relative to their specialty areas
Corresponding with faculty/students relative to the exam schedule
Grading, compiling, and disseminating the results

Admissions Committee member (2013- ), serving in role of:
A point of contact for prospective students
Organizing on-site luncheon for applicants (including asking the Dean of
EBHS and of the Graduate School and Continuing Studies to meet with
and talk to the students)
Interview and evaluate applicants
