3+ years experience in finite element analysis, structural analysis, and NVH analysis
Proficient in Structural and Fatigue Analysis of Automotive Components and Systems
Hands-on experience in CAE/NVH software (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS, HyperMesh, LMS TestLab etc.)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
EDUCATION
9/15-8/17 Mechanical Engineering (MSE), University of Michigan, Dearborn, MI GPA: 3.9/4.0
9/13-6/15 Automotive Engineering (MSE), Chongqing University, Chongqing, China GPA: 3.5/4.0
9/09-6/13 Engineering Mechanics (B.Eng.), Chongqing University, Chongqing, China GPA: 3.3/4.0
WORK EXPERIENCE
9/15-Present Research Assistant-CAE Engineer, University of Michigan, Dearborn, MI
Optimized a vehicle exhaust system NVH modal characteristics, using ANSYS Workbench
Conducted FRF measurements, modal analysis, absorption coefficient measurements, sound
field identification, order tracking, and sound quality analysis using LMS TestLab and B&K Pulse
Developed FE models for strength, modal and durability analyses, and optimization of various vehicle
components, working as a team leader
Developed CAE methods and analysis process for exhaust hanger rods, and control arm, with
HyperMesh as pre-processor and ABAQUS as solver
Conducted fatigue tests on lightweight materials (aluminum alloy and AHSS) and various joints (e.g., spot
welding, seam welding, adhesive joints, and self-piercing rivet joints)
Acquired fatigue test data and organized them as input for CAE based fatigue and strength analysis
Optimized the structures, reduced the mass, and improved the durability performance for exhaust hanger
rods using FEA software
Wrote technical reports for projects funded by Ford Motor Company, American Iron and Steel Institute,
and Auto/Steel Partnership
Presented project achievements at international conferences (e.g., SAE, ASME, and ASTM) and interpreted
analysis data and results to customers on internal meetings (e.g., GM, FCA, and HBM nCode)
9/14-8/15 CAE Engineer Intern, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI
Utilized HypeMmesh to preprocess the tasks and mesh the geometric models imported from CATIA for
laser welded joints fastening the aluminum and copper tabs in battery packs
Created FEA models, and performed static strength and durability analyses on laser welded joints to meet
structural targets using OptiStruct, nCode, and Fe-safe
Communicated with test engineers effectively and employed design of experiments (DOE) methods to
schedule the tensile and fatigue testing plan
Correlated analysis results with experimental measurements by observing and modeling the crack
propagation process in the welds
Utilized Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to create and update project schedules
