 Course Description
This course provides an understanding of the chemical and
biological processes that occur in the processing unit as the
basis for the design and engineering field of Environmental
Engineering. In detail, this course discusses processes of
chemical processes: flocculation and coagulations,
softening, ammonia removal, sorption, chlorination, ion
exchange, aeration, metal removal. Biological process:
activated sludge processes and its modification, types of
reactors, mass balances and flow models, kinetic growth
models, oxygen transfer dan mixing, trickling filter (TF),
rotating biological contactor (RBC), stabilization ponds,
aerated lagoons, anaerobic digestion, aerobic digestion and
solids handling.
