The article Reading Habits Among Students and its Effect on Academic Performance: A Study of Students
of Koforidua Polytechnic written by M. OWUSU-ACHEAW and AGATHA GIFTY LARSON which is
published in year 2014. The subject of this article is a reading habit has influence on academic
performance and there is a relationship between reading habit and academic performance. However,
the author said that Reading habits are well-planned and deliberate pattern of study which has
attained a form of consistency on the part of students toward understanding academic subjects and
passing at examinations. Meanwhile, M. OWUSU-ACHEAW and AGATHA GIFTY LARSON highlight that,
Reading makes way for a better understanding of ones own experiences and it can be an exciting
voyage to self-discover. Besides that, Reading and academic achievement are essential for research
workers and educationists to know that every child whether he or she is gifted, average, normal or
backward should be educated in his or her own way but if he or she possesses good study habits, he or
she can perform well in academics and in every situation. From the article, the author takes a quote

which is published in year 2016. The subject of this article is to study the problems of reading and
improve reading culture of students-bachelors of elementary education in modern high institutions and
development of the most effective methods and techniques for improving of reading culture of students
in the study of Humanities disciplines. However, the author said that The decline of interest in reading
is a worldwide trend of globalization of media and the rapid development of the entertainment industry,
displacing reading and as a prestigious source of information and as a pleasant and prestigious form of
leisure. Meanwhile Lera A. Kamalova & Natalya D. Koletvinova highlight that not only pupils, but also
among those categories of citizens who have higher education decreased interest in reading books
significantly. From the article, the author takes a quote from McLuhan With the appearance of
