II. Specifics of Research

A. Introduction

Information Technology is the application of computers to store, study, retrieve, transmit, and

manipulate data or information, often in the context of a business or other enterprise. IT is

considered a subset of information of communication technology (ICT). ICT hierarchy where each

hierarchy level contains some degree of commonality in that they are related to technologies that

facilitate the transfer of information and various types of electronically mediated communications.

Information Technology consists of three categories: techniques for processing, the application of

statistical and mathematical methods to decision-making, and the simulation of higher-order

thinking through computer programs. Several industries are associated with information

technology, including computer hardware,

software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, telecom equipment, and e-commerce. (2012,

Zuppo).
 In most organizations, huge volumes of data accumulate: data of products, data of customers,

data of employees, data of the delivery of products, and data of other sources. These data therefore

play an important role in contemporary organizations and must be stored, managed, and processed,

which is where information systems come into play.

The student information system is an integral part of this technology. This student information

system handles every aspect of student data right from admission, class schedules, subject

enrolled by the student, overall student performance, and personal information of student. All

these elements are integrated into a single database, accessing and tracking data of any student

happens with just a click of the mouse.

B. Background of the study

The idea of Information System for Cavite State University Trece Martires Campus

Students was to make the Information System of BSIT student the manual process will be

automated. Smart management of student and staff data makes chaotic schedules, stress-free and

easy to manage. Enthuses student performance and success streamlines and simplifies everyday

administrative tasks. Enhancing the efficiency of school administration and managing student data

is effortless and easy with the Student Information System software. This system can be

customized to include a whole range of activities. It can be easily accessed anytime.

C. Research Description
Objectives (General and specific)

The general objective of the study is to develop Bachelor of Information Technology

Information System for Cavite State University Trece Martires Campus Students.
 Specifically, it aims to:

1. To identify and know the characteristics of the existing student information

system as assessed by the respondents along the following characteristics of software in

terms of: reusability, maintainability, security, usefulness and functionality, and evaluation

on the system appeal.

2. To evaluate the performance of the existing system with regards to the reliability

and efficiency of generating reports and queries?

3. To identify the features of the proposed study to enhance the effectiveness and

performance of the student information system.

4. To identify the characteristics of the developed student information system as

assess by the respondents along the following quality characteristics of the software

5. create Bachelor of Information Technology Information System for Cavite State

University Trece Martires Campus Students using the following materials and

programming language:

a. C# provides reference material, keywords and syntax, operators, special characters,

preprocessor directives, compiler options, and compiler errors and warnings.

b. MySQL privilege system is to authenticate a user who connects from a given host

and to associate that user with privileges on a database such

as SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE.

6. Evaluate the system using Cavite State University- Trece Martires City Campus

evaluation software for prototype.

 Manageability (Scope and limitations)

The proposed system is intended to manage specific information of students such as

Personal details, Educational data Health and Physical data.

This project/research when completed will provide comprehensive Student Information

System for Cavite state University Trece Martires campus. The system should be able to add,

updated, summarize, store, retrieve, reproduce and communicate operational data. Student

information System will store all the details of students including their background information,

educational qualifications and personal details etc. The proposed system will have the following

features:

Login module: Login module will help in authentication of user accounts. Users who have valid

login id and password can only login into their respective accounts;

Search module: This model allows one to search for a Particular student or group of students using

search criteria such as name of student, Index number, course code among others;

Registration Module and Account Management: This module will help the student get registered.

This module will really simplify the task of the manual registration.

User and Administrator Management: This module will help the registrar in enabling/disabling a

user
