Painting Party! If you would like to help paint our newly renovated
basement please, bring your brush, roller and bucket (if you have them)

Pastor & Mrs. Kimes Return - After a year away, we will welcome
Pastor Ed back to worship next Sunday, September 5! Let’s fill the pews
and welcome him back in a grand way. Following the worship services,
a reception is planned for you to welcome them home! Pastor Ed’s first
Sunday to preach is Sunday, September 12.
Older Kids (55+ aged group) is going to Camp LaDore, a Salvation
Army owned camp Wednesday, September 15 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The
camp offers a multitude of services, activities and amenities, including
bike riding, swimming in a heated pool, walking trails, etc. Cost is $10
per person and includes lunch. A donation for fuel will be taken. For
transportation planning, please RSVP to Jean Snyder at 421-0485.
Merry Marthas & Misters (A Cooking Fellowship) will meet Friday,
September 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Faith will share some of
the new foods she experienced while in England and social awareness
opportunities to participate in.
Adult Co-ed Recreational Basketball meets every Monday at 8 p.m.

 Opportunities to Celebrate God through Worship
Many thanks are given to Sue Randall for serving as substitute organist
today, following her series of lessons under the church-sponsored Organ
Scholarship program.
One More Introductory Class for Beginning Ringers will meet next
Sunday September 5 at 9-9:40 a.m. Adults, teens, and children in at
least 3rd grade are welcome to learn basic skills of how to ring chimes
and bells and read music. Previous music experience is helpful but not
necessary. Although continuation into the fall season of the bell groups
is hoped for, there is no obligation. For more details, contact Norm or

Choirs To Resume for the Fall-Christmas Season.
• Chancel Choir for adults and teens on Thursdays from September 9
at 7:30-9 p.m. in Choir Room.
• All Bell Choirs on Tuesdays from September 14. Chime Choir at
5-5:30 p.m., Youth at 5:30-6:15 p.m and Adults at 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Choirs support worship at 8:30 and 11 a.m. on a monthly rotating
schedule. New members are welcome! YOU can learn music and grow
in spiritual fellowship by serving in music.

Coming Sunday September 26, 3p.m. - Concert by Gordon Turk,
Virtuoso Organist at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ, of the
Methodist Camp Meeting Association and site since 1870. Dr. Turk, has
a deep love for hymns and church music. He has also presented classical
concerts at the highest musical levels in the USA, Europe, Russia, and
Japan. This concert is free and a reception will follow. Greeters and
other helpers are needed. Fliers for publicity will be available in
Fellowship Hall September 5 and 12, as well as details for anyone who
wishes to be listed in the program as a "Friend" of the Organ Series.

Trust & Confidentiality - Trust is essential to a caring
relationship, and Stephen Ministers are people you can trust.
Confidentiality is one of the most important principles of Stephen
Ministry. What a care receiver tells his or her Stephen Minister is kept
in strictest confidence; even the identity of the care receiver is kept
confidential from other Stephen Ministers, or anyone else. The basic rule
of Stephen Ministry confidentiality is that all communications between
caregivers and care receivers, all observations, impressions and records
about care receivers must remain confidential. Do you know someone

Helping Children & Teens Cope with Grief, a FREE conference with
internationally known author, educator, and grief counselor Dr. Alan D.
Wolfelt is Monday, October 18 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at DeSales
University, Allentown. Registration is required! For information, see the
Congregational Care Bulletin Board in Oberholtzer Hall.
An Electric Lift Recliner is needed. If you have one to donate or sell at
a reasonable cost, call 223-0259 after 4 p.m.
PMC Medical Explorers, a program that partners young people
interested in working in the medical field with professionals in that field
is hosting an Open House Wednesday, September 22 from 5-7 p.m. at the
hospital. For information, call 476-3447 or see the flier on the

Women (Non-traditional) Students returning to school to continue
education in any profession may qualify for financial assistance from
Pocono Area American Association of University Women. Available
now is $300 per semester, up to four semesters. Contact AAUW

Children’s Ministry Nursery - Sixth Grade
Sunday School Teachers Meeting Today! If you are planning to teach
or aide in children's Sunday School this school year, there is an
organizational meeting immediately following the 11 a.m. service in the
Sunday School area. Lunch provided! Bring your calendars.
Children's Choir will begin in September. Choir parents, check your
email for start date and updated rehearsal times. If your child is in K-5
grade and would like to participate, please email srandall@esumc.net to
receive information.
Children's Sunday School begins Sunday, September 5 with an Open
House; regular Sunday School classes will resume on September 12.
Foundations Preschool Update! Our brand new preschool,
Foundations, will begin with an Open House Thursday, September 2 at
10 a.m. Classes will begin Tuesday, September 7. Preschool is held
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Please be aware that the
church building will be locked during these hours.
College-Aged Ministry – F.O.G.

• Sunday School is from 11a.m.-12 p.m. We meet in the Office
Building, 2nd Floor.
• Bible Study meets every Tuesday night in the Youth Room "tank"
from 7-8 p.m.
• Volunteers Urgently Needed: Shannon Burns is stepping down as
of September 1. The ministry will be volunteer run, and overseen
by Pastor LaBar. The areas that need volunteers are: Sunday School
(weekly), Bible Study (weekly), Coffeehouse Worship (weekly),
Fellowship Event Leaders (monthly), Service Project Leaders
(quarterly), Retreat Leaders (Annual), Mission Trip Coordinator/
Leaders (annual). Please pray for this ministry, as well as, a way in

Opportunities to Grow Spiritually
Youth Ministry - Entering 7th - 12th Grades
Combined Jr. & Sr. High Sunday School will be held at 11 a.m. today
in the Youth Room.
Sunday Night Program - The new Youth Room is almost ready!! All
youth are asked to help with painting tonight from 5 - 8:30 p.m. with
John Hollister leading the crew. Please come and support this project!
Youth Praise Band: With the new Youth Room nearing completion, we
are really looking to ramp up the youth praise band. If any student is
interested in participating as a singer or musician, please contact Scott
Kuhnle ASAP at skuhnle@esumc.net. Practices will start in September.
Two New Opportunities this Fall:
• Hiking Club led by Bob Rosenberger for all ages. The youth are
invited to participate the third Sunday of every month following
Sunday School. We will meet at the church and use the church vans
to get to the trails. The first hike is Sunday, September 19.
• Service Saturdays: Anyone who went on a mission trip this
summer (or has EVER been involved with missions) understands the
value of serving others and how you as a participant can be blessed
beyond any expectations. Starting Saturday, October 2, we will be
offering "Service Saturdays" and continue the first Saturday of every
month. Come serve our community through local missions projects.
For now, please put Saturday, October 2 on your calendar. More
details will follow. In order to make this program work, we will
need several adult volunteers---if interested in volunteering, please
let Scott know.
 Opportunities to Grow Spiritually For Adults
New Discipleship Opportunity: "Come As You Are" - As the body of
Christ, we gather together to pray, to worship, to serve, and to encourage
one another. In this group you will have the opportunity to "come as you
are," to be encouraged and to inspire others as you share your stories of
faith. Grab a cup of coffee and meet in the Bridal Lounge at 11 a.m. on
September 12, 19, and 26. Dave and Cathy Saunders will lead you to
share meaningful scriptures and life's amazing "God moments." (attend

Looking Ahead: "Growing Deeper Disciples Fall" 2010 - We will be
offering a variety of small-group studies and discussions that will help
you cultivate simplicity and joy in your life, help you make biblical
sense of your personal finances, help you understand the religions of the
world, and more! Sign-ups will take place in Fellowship Hall September
12, 19, and 26. Groups begin meeting the week of October 3. For more
information on our fall "Growing Deeper Disciples", please contact

ESUMC Book Club: Start Reading! Throughout the year, we will
feature books on various Christian topics, and will gather for fellowship
and book discussion. Our first book selection is Ten Dumb Things Smart
Christians Believe by Larry Osborne. If you have not yet placed an
order for your book, contact Pastor LaBar as soon as possible. If you
ordered a book, you can pick-up it up in Fellowship Hall. We will be
hosting two book discussion formats.
• On-site book discussion group will take place on Sunday,
September 19, at 6:30 p.m. During this one-time session, we will
discuss the entire book.
• Online book discussion blog will be accessible through our
church website, www.esumc.net.
