Freewrite 1: August 29th

This is a free writing assignment, where Im supposed to think of anything I can think just to put it on a
piece of paper. The ideas are limited but Im just feeling an empty space in my head right now. Not sure
why but the only thing I can think of is the typeface and design of the UWRT Weebly website. I could
think of something better but really, nothing is popping up. I distinctly remember my first day of
Computer Science, in which I saw these weird shoe sole looking devices, just starting at it and playing
around with it. I learned a week later that those are microphones dedicated to talk to the teacher
directly when shes lecturing to the students. I spent the rest of the day thinking of whether I made the
right choice in buying a soda at 8 in the morning. The free write period is done now.

Freewrite 2: August 31st

Breakfast was different today. I didnt eat as much as I normally do, I just had a bowl of cereal and a cup
of milk. They didnt have whole milk, it was empty. Computer science was a fun class, though I didnt
pay much attention as I learned the basics in my senior year of high school. Just plain basics, I typed
random gibberish into the console and viola, out came the program. I wanted to conserve my swipes, so
I just bought subway. I really cant think of anything else to say and the 6 and a half minutes left was just
called so I guess I have to think of something else and fast. I feel like Im in that anime competition again
that I and yesterday. I m so mad at myself for losing, because I got to the end and lost on one of the
easier questions, but to be fair the winner was also stumped for a couple of seconds. He won a bunch of
collectables that a fan like me would cry seeing. I guess I have chances again in the future, but I dont
want the same guy to come back, because hes apparently done this and won multiple times in the past.
So honestly it was a challenge for him, the only issue is that I couldnt remember the song. I still have
two minutes now, but I had 3 hours before this class started so I watched anime. I could have technically
studied Japanese, but the only thing I have to study are the characters. Hey, lets write them down now.
Those are the basic characters that I had to memorize in the first week of classes, then
I got to Now time is up.

Messed up today, I forgot my key. I keep reminding myself that I have a lanyard. This was meant to be a
college experience, yet I became my worst nightmare after the second week of classes, I had a pretty
short train ride back because there was internet, but the week already seems to not be playing in my
favor. I picked today to lose my key, I find to find some way to remember it. Maybe Ill put a command
strip on the back of the door and hang it there. I already have a command strip above my desk for my
key, but I can easily forget that and leave without it. Ill put it on my door that seems like a better option
rather than having only 10% of a change of remembering it. Good thing my roommate cracked the door
open a little bit before he left. Other that that, classes were going pretty good Until the key incident.
Its only 5 dollars for a loan key but I need that money in my niner account and thats time consuming. I
just want to never forget my key maybe I should just never take it off. Yea, Ill never remove my lanyard.
Itll make everything easier, more uncomfortable, but much easier. I cant think of anything else to write
in this free write and I still have a minute and a half. Lets practice tomorrows quiz.
Those are all the characters I need to know for tomorrow.

Today was a different day. I woke up at 6:30 and went back to sleep, woke up at 7, and went back to
sleep again and woke up finally at 7:30. Good thing I had several alarms and got up in time for my 8AM. I
have so much trouble in my game. In this game that revolves around teamwork then people should be
contributing, but for some reason people want to go off on their own and do whatever they want to do.
I just want to play a game, and watch anime and earn good grades. There is a lot of stuff that I want to
do in my life, Memory not working. Cant think of anything else, Its all a blur, emptiness. I want more
days in my week to be dedicated to my club, sadly they only meet on Wednesdays. I also have to stop
my urge from getting drinks with sugar in the dining hall. I must reserve my willpower for this. No one
will stop me from getting a soda which makes it hard to not get one. Maybe Ill skip lunch today, I ate
breakfast late today and will probably eat dinner a lot earlier than usual. I dont know what else to write,
maybe the Japanese for my next quiz. Thats all I can remember, there was
also that YouTube video where they talked about finding the closest root but putting in the difference in
a fraction and solving.

Freewrite 5: September 12th

I finished my take home test for computer science on the first day it was assigned. If I had to think of
another thing I never thought I would be doing then probably going to sleep yesterday at 8PM. Super
early, but because I slept at 8 I woke up at 1AM and had several periods of times where I woke up 2
hours later, but anyways my take home test was just 3 programs that I had to make. I carefully reviewed
the list of requirements and made sure there was nothing wrong with my work. I have to carefully make
sure everything was perfect or else Ill slowly forget slight errors with my code causing it to be
unfunctional. The three programs consisted of collecting information from the person who was using
the program and using that collected data in a sort of a mathematical formula to produce a desired
output like find a monthly payment plan for an annual interest rate. They were all pretty basic programs
and other than that I took my very first college test which was Japanese on Monday. I a not afraid to say
I destroyed that test mainly because I studied for the first time in my whole life. I like college, its pretty
cool and I cant wait for my next lecture in Computing Professionals. My hand is starting to hurt now
from writing this freewrite, but the time seems to be up, so I am done.

Freewrite 6: September 14th

The day was pretty normal up to the point where I forgot you are supposed to pull a door handle in
order to open it, apparently my life is at the point where a turning handle is supposed to be pulled. Its a
really dumb idea but anyway time to practice my next set of characters in katakana. Katakana are
characters in Japanese only to be used for foreign words and onomatopoeia. Now to practice:
I also have to add a to the ka characters to make them ga. So Ive also been watching
one scene from an anime I like a lot. I ust want to keep repeating it because of how amazing it is. I can
even remember it in my head.

These Japanese quizzes are getting harder and harder to do, it used to be just memorizing the
characters the previous class had been lectured on, but know we are tested on prior knowledge
meaning we have to know characters from previous quizzes. That makes me feel hungry for some
reason as I obviously didnt eat enough but I used 2 swipes for breakfast. Two meals for breakfast arent
worth it, but I should be trying to memorize my characters. I memorize 10-15 characters
which menas I have to review o,sa,se,so, and ta. I have a lot of work to do today, and I have to help a
friend with Computer Science homework. Could this day get any worse? I know it will get more difficult
as the semester goes on.

Freewrite 8: September 21st

Tomorrow is the next katakana quiz and in even worse news I woke up sick yesterday and its still here
which means its here to stay. I hope to be over it by tomorrow morning, Im going to have to get
lozenges from the pharmacy after class and rest the rest of the day after studying Japanese. I cant
remember the characters for tomorrows quiz but I know that they are ma, mi, mu, me, and mo. As well
as ya, yu and yo. I shall review once I get back and then finally sleep the rest of the day. I have to catch
up on my hours of sleep. I left from my club early yesterday, so I could sleep the rest of the night. Cant
wait for this cold to be over as thats when I can work properly. I can also eat properly afterwards.
Whenever I eat during a cold, it feels like the food I swallow gets stuck in my heart and it takes a while to
slide down, and I cant drink water to make it go down faster as it gags me. Other than that, Ive just
been editing the Japanese language feature on my laptop and downloading games as well. I could have
taken a Nyquil ut my mother tells me Ill be drowsy for classes and wont be able to focus, but to always
keep drinking water. Its sad how such a commonly experienced sickness doesnt have a cure, ot kist
comes and goes. I cant really think of what else to write, so I guess thats it.

September 28th

The computer science test was so difficult and almost everyone got below a 70, I got a 68 which was a
24/35. Its better than most people and one person got a 9/35 which is horrible. In comparison, my
Japanese test wasnt bad at all Im positive that I got a 90 on the writing and speaking sections of it.
Cant wait for tomorrow Japanese is definitely my favorite class. As for computer science, its also fun
because the combination of friends and coding is enjoyable. I didnt make a mistake of choosing this
major, but the concentration is still an issue. Im not sure if Im going to be taking game design or
cybersecurity but Im leaning towards cybersecurity mainly because it interests me more. I also cant
wait to take a nap because I really want to for some reason. I wonder if its because Im tired or because
I like to just rest, even so I also need to eat, and I have 97 swipes remaining. Not sure when they will end
but Im worried that Ill finish them before the semester ends. As for my grades, Im pushing through as
hard as I can. Were going to be learning in Kanji in Japanese next. Cant wait for it, but Im still tired.

Lehman cancelled her class as she apparently pulled a back muscle, instead she just gave s super easy
work to do at home. So I finished it there because I dont like to hold off small assignments for a single
day. I was also playing a visual novel for a couple of hours. To those who dont know, a visual novel is a
type of game that follows a story book format where you talk to characters and make decisions that lead
to an ultimate goal. Whatever happens is the choice of the reader. He can go and reach the final part of
a true story or stumble somewhere and get a bad ending. The aspect is that there is no gameplay. Its
Freewrites Krishnamurthy Jayaraman

essentially an animated movie where you assume the main characters role and decide his choices for a
specific outcome. These novels are pretty long, as the specific one that Im playing would take 35-50
hours to finish, and thats a long time. If I make one bad choice Its all over, but the good news is that I
can save at any time during the game and go back to it if something goes badly in order to change it.
Other than that I got my second Japanese test back and got a 101 in speaking and a 93 in writing. My
main mistake is that the Japanese word for no is iie which is written as and I wrote it as iee
which is and since there were a lot of sections where I wrote iee, each one is worth -.05 points.
So I lost 4 points. So I got a 97 vs a 93. Im sad now, but Ill be happy once I eat lunch. I guess thats the
freewrite.

October 5th

I have my kanji test tomorrow, so lets review is ichi which is one is ni which is two is san which is
three is yon which is 4. I remember that ten thousand is ichiman which is and ten is juu which is
, the currency for Japan is the yen which is spelled as en or and the kanji for en is . There is also ji
which is used for time or basically the oclock in _oclock. Ji is written as . Now looking at my notes I
see that go is which is 5. Roku is which is 6, nana is which is 7, is hachi which is eight, is
kyuu or kuu which is 9. Hundred is hyaku or in kanji, sen is thousand or . I have to know
for my kanji test tomorrow. I may have to write stuff like 888 yen in
kanji which is .

October 12th

The computer science take home test was so confusing for a good 1 hour, I realized after then that the
first 2 paragraphs of the instruction sheet were completely useless. The first one was a sort of backstory
to the topic we were supposed to code about, the second one included a bunch of other formulas that
were associated with the topic but not to the actual coding assignment. We had to use a system of
random numbers where the computer randomly generates a number and links them to a specific point
on a x,y scale. Then we had to make the program run that by itself about a million times and add those
values to get the value of pi. Other than that, my next Japanese chapter test is tomorrow. Its a good
thing we had a study guide available on Wednesday, two days before the test. We have to study vocab
and particles and how they fit into sentences. The particles are and . Im sure they are
all of them. The next thing we have to know are the phrases for occasionally, usually, not really and not
at all. Being and

How I just walked around the school. No why I just said how in my first sentence but Im sticking with it.
I just walk around school every day listening to Japanese music and I find nerf darts everywhere. So far
Ive collected an additional pack which means Im getting investments for playing Niners vs Zombies. My
arm is already tired, this is because Ive been drawing for my final project in my Japanese class as well as
studying the brand new kanji for it. The first few kanji we learned were , and . means yama
which is mountain, is kawa which is river, is watashi which is I. You would use in every sentence
where you are the topic except if you use altered versions which means the same thing as I, this would
be like boku, ore, or atashi, etc. I also have to do more programming for my intro to computer science
class. Im pretty upset because registering for classes isnt as fair as it should be, in chapel hill they have

a system where people in different registration blocks have a certain number of people allowed to sign
up for one class so that there is enough students from each registration block to take a class and that its
ore fair, but here its only based on seniority. A class can be completely filled up on the first registration
block. Which gives me a severe disadvantage in picking classes.

Its so cold outside, I mean its so cold that I actually got a cold from being out in the cold. Usually its
just a normal summer allergy for e but now this freezing weather gave me a 2nd cold. I am unhappy with
the temperature even if I do prefer weather compared to hot, but my unhappiness has been replaced by
a bunch of luck. Ive been getting my meals paid for. On Tuesday my roommate bought me dinner from
a Chinese restaurant and just yesterday a classmate offered to pay for my lunch so that he didnt have
to wait in line. Just yesterday night one of my friends gifted me a game on steam (an online platform
that sells bestselling games for your computer). The game was Sonic Mania, a recreation of the original
Sonic the Hedgehog game from back in 1991 with better graphics, more levels and much more nostalgia.
When I first opened the game I immediately remembered back in 2004 when I used to play Sonic games
a lot. That was over 10 years ago. There were so many levels recreated from the original game and I
loved every second of it. The next amazing part was that the levels were 2 times longer now and there
were also bosses in every act. Basically every level had 3 acts and the 3rd would be the boss act, but in
Sonic Mania there were bosses and mini bosses in every act which increased the fun and difficulty. I now
have a lot more bosses I had to analyze and find out weaknesses for which delivers on the fun aspect.
