SCENARIO

REQUIREMENTS
The XYZ Research company has provided a partially
completed logical diagram of the required network. The
company has also provided networking equipment and
demonstration. In some instance the equipment provided
does not have all the required LAN interfaces. If this is so the
CCNA3 LAN Switching and Wireless Case
Study
company allows configuration of loopback network, as
alternatives.

XYZ Research Company requirements

18 employees in the research and development group

9 employees in the sales and marketing group

7 employees in the administration group

5 employees in the remote sales office (off the wireless LAN)

Lifetime MAX of 5 servers on separate subnets, regardless of company

Use subnet 200.200.100.0/30 for connection to the internet router

Use public class C network 10.0.0.0 for internal addressing

Use VLAM for IP addressing

Expect 100 % growth of current IP requirements when determining size of

subnets

All networking devices must have IP address

XYZ Research company requirements

There are 18 Research and Development employees

There are 9 Sales and Marketing employees

8 Research personnel and 2 Sales personnel are on Floor3

6 Research personnel and 4 Sales personnel are on Floor2

4 Research personnel and 3 Sales personnel are on Floor1

Floo1 also has the server LAN. 5 server machines are planned but at this time
only one is available.

There are separate rooms on each floor for the workgroups

There is sufficient space in each room to accommodate growth

The 100% predicted growth will occur uniformly per floor

Switches in the Main building are connected in a loop so that if one switch fails
an alternative path is used

There will be one switch per floor shared among the different subnet

Spanning tree root is to be placed in a optional position
