After showing how to categorize animals habitats, the child will categorize each animal to its habitat correctly at
least once.

Hey children today we are going to learn about 3 different types of animals. Animals that live in the ocean,
animals that live on land, and animals that fly
1. Pass out 3 different colors of construction paper (blue, red, green)
2. Show pictures of animals that live in the ocean and explain that they are called marine animals.
(dolphins, whales, and fish)
3. Next show pictures of animals that live on land and explain that they are called terrestrial animals.
(elephants, giraffes, and lions)
4. Then show pictures of animals that fly and explain how they are called Aerial Animals. (eagle,
pigeon, hummingbird)
5. Present each child with a copy of the 3 different types of animals.
6. Pass out glue sticks
7. Explain that they will glue the ocean animals to the blue paper, the land animals to the green paper,
and the flying animals to the red paper.
8. Ask the children, how are they alike, how are they different?
9. Once they have finished gluing the animals to their paper, have them lift up the ocean animals when
asked
10. Followed by the land animals, and then the flying animals.
11. Ask the children if they have any questions and give them a few miniutes give their thoughts.
12. Give the children a 5 minute warning for cleanup time.
13. Ask the children, what did you learn?
14. Now that we are finished we will put our pictures in 3 different piles, ocean animals, land animals,
flying animals
15. After all children have piled their pictures we will either swim like an ocean animal, crawl like a
terrestrial animal, or fly like a aerial animal on our way to outdoor play.
