It is with great pleasure and confidence that I write this letter of recommendation for Javi Perez, University
of Arizona student nurse. Javi will be graduating in December of 2017 with his Bachelors of Science in
Nursing degree. I am faculty in the second semester obstetrics course (NURS 368) at the College of Nursing
and was course chair and mentor to Javi in the Fall of 2016.

I have been faculty at the College of Nursing for four years. Prior to teaching, I worked for Carondelet
Health Network as an RN for 28 years. I served four years as the clinical educator and one year as manager
of the antepartum/womens surgical/maternal-newborn unit at St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.
Prior to womens health, I worked for 19 years on a cardiac telemetry unit.

While Javi was in our course I found him to be quick to learn and hardworking. He possessed excellent
critical thinking skills. Javi was prepared, enthusiastic, and engaged in the classroom. He did well
academically in both the clinical and classroom setting. Javi has a quiet confidence and gentle manner that I
believe will put both patients and nurses at ease. He is supportive of his student colleagues and is truly a
team player. He genuinely cares for people and is a joy to be around!

Javi has been an active member and leader in our pre-professional service club, Student Nurses at the
University of Arizona (SNUA), and was an executive board member as director of social media and the
clubs website. His leadership and organizational skills shined bright while in this leadership capacity.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Javi to you as I believe he will be successful at whatever type of nursing
he puts his mind to, and will be a positive addition to any healthcare team. If you have any questions,
