Naena provided a positive atmosphere for the students to learn and engage in this activity. They were
excited to use a digital compass, find directions and draw their own map of the room. Pacing was just right
throughout the lesson.

Several different assessment tools were used throughout the lesson: questioning the students and their
responses kept them engaged; walking around and assisting during the mapping activity provided
feedback; and checking the maps at the end was a performance assessment showing creativity.

A variety of instructional strategies were used: a digital compass to find the directions in the classroom; a
clever short video with repetition for ELL learners;
In the future more examples could be used demonstrating what was expected in the activity, possibly some
brainstorming for ideas of things to put on your own map of the room and how they would look from the
ceiling down.
