Assessments:

Good Citizenship Sort


Procedures:
1. Pass out journals
a. Have the students label it: Good Citizenship Journals
2. Explain to the students that they are to first write down tasks, ideas, etc. for things they
will do at home, at school, and in our community to make them a good citizen.
3. Choose one of those tasks to illustrate a drawing of the task/activity along with a
descriptive sentence telling what they will do to be a good citizen and where they will
do it (Hang them up to remind students to be good citizens).
4. Have a group discussion, What we will do as a class to be good citizens in this school
a. Teacher writes list of ideas on chart paper.
5. Have the students complete an assessment, Good Citizenship Sort to see what they
have learned throughout the week
Materials:
Journals
Paper
Chart paper
Markers
Good Citizenship Sort
o Scissors
o glue
ESOL Accommodations:
For the Good Citizenship Sort, have the ESOL students paper have the activity as well as
a picture displaying the activity allowing the student to then decipher whether it is an
example of a good citizen or a bad citizen.
