PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF MAIN BEAM, SECONDERY BEAM AND COLUMN
1.) Preliminary design of Slab
Span of the slab=3.734
Percentage of the tensile reinforcement assumed=0.40% (assumed)
Now, using limit state of serviceability leff / d = where, = 26 = 1(for span less than 10 m) = 1.330 =1 = 1 (for singly reinforcement section) So, d = 3734 / (26x1.33) = 107.98 mm Therefore, Adopt effective depth = 110 mm And overall depth = 130 mm
2) Preliminary design of the Main Beam along X-direction
Span of the Beam=7.470
Percentage of the tensile reinforcement assumed=2.50% (assumed)
Now, using limit state of serviceability leff / deff = where, = 23(for one edge discontinuous) = 1(for span less than 10 m) = 0.80 (for 2.5% for tensile reinforcement) =1 = 1.25 (for assumed 1% compression steel) So, d = 7470 / (23X0.80X1.25X1) = 324.78 mm Therefore, Adopt effective depth (deff) = 330 mm And overall depth (D)=(deff+(assumed bar dia.)/2+clear cover)=330+12.50+30=372.50 mm Assume overall depth of the beam (D)=450mm Width of the beam from ductile detailing criteria Assume width of the beam (B)=300mm B/D > 0.3, 300/450= 0.667 > 0.3, hence OK Hence use B=300mm
2) Preliminary design of the Main Beam along Y-direction
Span of the Beam=5.334
Percentage of the tensile reinforcement assumed=1.80% (assumed)
Now, using limit state of serviceability leff / deff = where, = 23(for one edge discontinuous) = 1(for span less than 10 m) = 0.845 (for 1.80% for tensile reinforcement) =1 = 1.25 (for assumed 1% compression steel) So, d = 5334 / (23X0.845X1.25X1) = 219.56 mm Therefore, Adopt effective depth (deff) = 230 mm And overall depth (D)=(deff+(assumed bar dia.)/2+clear cover)=230+12.50+25=267.50 mm Assume overall depth of the beam (D)=400mm Width of the beam from ductile detailing criteria Assume width of the beam (B)=300mm B/D > 0.3, 300/400= 0.75 > 0.3, hence OK Hence use B=300mm
2) Preliminary design of the Secondary Beam
Span of the Beam=5.334
Percentage of the tensile reinforcement assumed=1.80% (assumed)
Now, using limit state of serviceability leff / deff = where, = 20(for simply supported) = 1(for span less than 10 m) = 0.845 (for 1.80% for tensile reinforcement) =1 = 1.25 (for assumed 1% compression steel) So, d = 5334 / (20X0.845X1.25X1) = 252.49 mm Therefore, Adopt effective depth (deff) = 260 mm And overall depth (D)=(deff+(assumed bar dia.)/2+clear cover)=260+8+25=293.00 mm Assume overall depth of the beam (D)=350mm Width of the beam from ductile detailing criteria Assume width of the beam (B)=230mm B/D > 0.3, 230/350= 0.75 > 0.3, hence OK Hence use B=230mm
