Introduction
Social media use really has impact on peoples sleep (Levenson, 2016). Facebook and

other social media services are all extremely popular and very widespread part of todays modern

society. At any given time of the day, millions of users are logged onto social media sites.

Seventeen million teenagers use social media and those children are five times more likely to use

alcohol and twice likely to use marijuana (Stein, 2014). It is one of the pieces of evidence that

really show social media can be addicted without our awareness.

Young adults spend just over an hour on social media every single day and visits various

social media accounts around 30 times a week. And those who were three times more likely than

others to have trouble falling asleep. Similarly, those who spent most time on social media on

daily basis were twice likely to have sleeping problems (Pittsburgh, 2016). The advent of social

media may have catalysed a fear of missing out now, it looks like it is also causing to miss out on

something much more tangible sleep.

Being exposed to bright light from computer and mobile phone screen while in bed

completely delays the brain and the bodys ability to get to sleep. People are not able to get to

sleep as quickly as they should and are not getting the required amount of sleep they need each

night (Hastings, 2012).

Social media usage connects with sleeplessness (Mary Sue, 2016). Most people these days

are constantly connected to social media and it has become a deeply integrated part of everyday

lives, our health and sleep (Ultius, 2015).
