Singular and Plural nouns


REGULAR NOUNS
Most singular nouns form the plural by adding -s.
EXAMPLES
Singular Plural

boat boats

house houses

cat cats

river rivers

A singular noun ending in s, x, z, ch, sh makes the plural by adding-es.

A singular noun ending in a consonant and then y makes the plural by


dropping the y and adding-ies.

Love/Like/Not mind/Hate
This verbs are used with a gerund (verb form ending in ing).

Examples: I like going out with friends.


I hate cooking.
I dont mind shopping.
More Possessives
Possessive pronouns and adjectives are two different ways to show possession in
English.

Possessive Adjectives

Possessive Adjective + Noun

Examples:

My dog is big.
Her cat is brown.
Their sister works downtown.

Possessive Pronouns

Noun + Possessive Pronoun

Examples:

The dog is mine.


The brown cat is hers.
The car is ours.
