Today we are learning about prairie schooners. Does anyone know what those are?
Okay! Lets find out.

(Pick three students to read each paragraph)
Whoa. $600? This is what that looks like (lay out money)
Not as much as yesterday but still a lot of money!
They had to sell many things to go on this trip.
Okay B- do you want to go west? Alright you gotta sell your things! Okay I will give you $100 for your
sweatshirt. Okay, now I will give you $100 for your beanie. Okay, $100 for your glasses. Wow youre really
giving up a lot for this! You still need $200 more dollars! Give me a shoe for $100. Okay now give me your
other shoe for $100. Okay now you have enough money to go! But.it took selling a lot of things to get
there!

What supplies did they need?

Today, we could probably make that journey in a couple hours in a plane or a day or two by car!
