English 360 Charter Peer Review Sheet

Peer Review Categories (directly from our classs SLOs):

Rhetorical Awareness
To what extent does this charter attend to its purpose and its audience's needs? Id say the
charter has two audiences: 1) the teams members, and 2) the professor. Given that
information, would you say the charter written at an appropriate reading level and style?
Explain. To what extent has the charters purpose (defining expectations, goals, etc.) been met?
Explain.

The language used is the appropriate reading level and is aimed correctly towards their
audience. More specifically, the word usage is straight-forward and descriptive.
However, their explanations that are not in bullet point forms and quite long and
excessive.

Ethical Research
To what extent does this charter consistently and correctly use quotation marks and MLA- ,
APA-, or number system in-text (parenthetical citations) and end-of-text (reference list) citations
for all sources, whether quoted directly or paraphrased? Does it avoid relying too much on a
single source?
There seems to be only one citation. It would be recommended to use more than one
citation from different credible sources to reinforce your credibility. Moreover, there is
not a reference section in the charter at all. A reference section will allow a clear and
concise list of all sources used and will help avoid plagiarism.

Support/Evidence
How well does the charter support any claims it makes with relevant, thorough, authoritative,
and specific evidence? To what extent is the charter objective and unbiased?

The charter could use more sources to reinforce certain points made. Although, their
charter seems to be unbiased and objective.

Organization
How organized is the charter? For instance, does it use clear, specific organizational devices
(like descriptive headings, topic sentences to govern paragraphs, and transitions) to tie ideas and
topics together logically and seamlessly? Are paragraphs are unified (i.e., one topic per
paragraph)?
The charter is very organized and is easy to comprehend. I feel that they did a wonderful
job at explaining their and mission and individual roles. Some of the explanations are
extensive and could be reduced. Reduction would help with clutter and avoiding dragging
on.

Language & Design

Are the sentence structures effective and varied? Is the language effective, concise, and
varied? Does the language respect the diversity of the charters readers (e.g., does it avoid
bigoted or biased language)? Is a standard memo format followed?

Yes, the sentence structures are effective and concise. I feel that they did a good job of
explaining their goal and each persons responsibilities in achieving that goal. They stay
away from biased language and they followed a standard memo format.

Collaboration
To what extent does the document confirm that this team worked well together? For example, is
it complete? Does it follow the instructions? Does the language throughout seem to be from one
writeror does it seem like three people wrote three separate parts at home and then pasted it
together without smoothing out the style?

In my opinion, I feel that this team has worked together well. I feel that this charter is a
little incomplete in the citation and references area. The charter seems to have been done
in sections. It seems this way because some of the charter is in paragraph form and others
are in bullet point form. That being said, the charter still seems fluid and concise.
