CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN


Grades K-12
CLASSROOM RULES
In this art class, you will be expected to become an ARTIST. Someone who:

A Always does their best


R Respects each other
Grades 4-9 T Takes care of their supplies

MANAGING INTERRUPTIONS (My own)


Silent Art, Whisper Art, Quiet Talking
Bathroom Breaks
Talking
Disruptive Behavior

In order to control excessive talking, Silent Art- journal time; Whisper Art- (privilege
of Music unless said otherwise)expressive painting, brainstorming; Quiet talking-
collaborative work, hands-on, building activities.
Bathroom breaks will occur at the beginning or end of the class (hopefully during
every class) to try and eliminate bathroom interruptions. In case of emergencies
hall passes will be available.
To gain attention, younger students: techniques like if you can hear my voice SMILE
REAL BIG and lock it and put it in your pocket. Older students, turning on/off lights,
music for transition, timers.
Disruptive behavior in one student can distract others. Strategies to keep students
engaged and on task will be implemented so there are little disruptions in class.
INITIATING RESPONSIBILITY
In an attempt to create student responsibility, classroom duties will be implemented so

that students will become art room helpers.

For younger grades: (by table each day/week)

Distributing materials

Washing brushes

Rinsing brushes/palettes

Washing tables

Older grades: Students set up and clean up

Sharpen pencils

Combine materials

Collect and distribute project materials

Organize sink

Scrub tables

Wash/rinse brushes and palettes

PROCEDURE FOR LATE / MAKEUP WORK


Late work will always be accepted. If student has put effort and is close to finishing project,

they will receive one extra day, however they will be expected to participate in the next

lesson first.

If a student misses class, I will be happy to help student catch up as long as they ask for

makeup work. They will receive the amount of time needed to complete an assignment that

is relevant and equivalent to the missed work.
