Purpose:
Once a Managed InTouch application is created, how can you rename the application so a different name appears within
the InTouch Application Manager? The purpose of this Tech Tip is to walk you through the steps required to rename the
Managed InTouch Application in all the locations the name can be used. For example, the name of the InTouch application
is used in three separate locations:

1. Template Toolbox 2. Instance name as displayed in the Deployment View

3. InTouch Application Manager.

Procedure Renaming a Managed InTouch Application:

1. Rename the InTouch Template by selecting the $Palletizer Bottle (as displayed in Figure 1 above), right click the
Template and select Rename. In this example, we will change the name of the InTouch application from
$Palletizer_Bottle to $Palletizer_Package.

2. In order to rename the Instance, the Instance must first be undeployed. Once undeployed, rename the Instance
following the same steps as in #1 above. In this example, we will change the name of the InTouch application from
$Palletizer_Bottle_001 to $Palletizer_Package_001.

Figure 5

Once the Instance is renamed, the application can be deployed again. The current problem, even though the Template
and Instance was renamed, the name will still display the original name of $Palletizer_Bottle, as shown in Figure 3
above, if the InTouch Application Manager is opened. Renaming the Template and Instance does not have any affect on
the name within InTouch Application Manager.

3. In order to change the name displayed within InTouch Application

Manager, the properties of the InTouch Application itself must be
modified. The first step in performing this task is to check out the
Template but not actually open it with InTouch. This can be
accomplished by right clicking on the newly renamed template
$Palletizer_Package and select Check Out. Once the Check Out is
completed, a Red Check will appear next to the icon, but
WindowMaker will NOT actually open.

4. Now that the application is checked out, right click the template again, however this time select Application
Information. This will open the dialog box for the actual properties of the InTouch application.

In this dialog box, the Name and the Description can be changed. In our example we replaced Bottle with Package in
both the Name and Description fields.

5. Deploy the changes for the Instance of the InTouch application.

6. InTouch Application Manager will now display the changed name of $Palletizer_Package.
